Rescued fellew biker

So was on may way to autoparts store when I saw 2 guys pushing a zx6.

Asked them whats wrong & it turns out they had been pushing it for miles to get to a shop. He says it wont start, battery is dead. I live close so I rode home & got tools and a jumpstarter.

Got the bodywork off an bike turned over with jumper. No start tho. I figured RR failure but then the guy told me it failed after he washed it.

Went to auto store & got starting fluid. Bike starts but stammers. OK its a fuel issue but probly wet plugs.

We were in front of a gas station so got a piece of hose and drained the tank. Lifted the tank to find zero screws holding airbox shut, lid off, filter loose.

Refill tank with fresh gas and bike runs better. Let it idle to warm up and it gets normal again. Had the guy ride to my house to charge battery, adjust chain and get rear tire from 18 to 40psi.

Also sold him a jacket and helmet (he asked if I had).

Pretty much a fun day other than the rain that poured down just as we got the bike together roadside.

Good old brotherhood of bikers........

Awesome Joe!
When I drive my truck Long distances I carry my tools / liquids and loading ramp with me for that very reason. It is nice helping out the fellow riders when they need it.

I don't know if "Rescued fellow biker" is the right title. Sounds like "Saved fellow biker's life" may end up being a more appropriate title. At least if he uses the gear you sold him.

18 pounds - and I assume they were 2-up?

Way to go Joe.

Probably saved them both from becoming roadkill. Hopefully they've listened and will remember what you've taught them. Good save Joe!

I get the chance to do this a lot here in the City. These guys were like 23yrs old so you would think I levatated the bike by the look on their faces when the bike started!

I can only imagine the "diagnostic" charges they woulda paid at the shop.

Had just enuff time left over to swap my clutch line.

Good on you! Not only did you save his *** then and in the future, if he was paying attention he got an excellent lesson in deductive reasoning to determine the cause of his malfunction! Most of us had to figure it out ourselves!
Hope he pays it forward!
