Rear Wheel Interchangability?

Rear Wheel Interchangability?
Does anyone know if the 929/954 rear wheel will work on a Superhawk?
I know it is a 190 vs 180 tire size but am curious if the actual wheel dimensions would work with the VTR spacers to bolt up to the swingarm.
I want to do the 929/954 front end swap and also wanted to match up rear rim style / color while I am at it.

Re: Rear Wheel Interchangability?
My VTR is a 2004 = Bronze wheels which I don't believe are on any other type / year of 929 / 954.
I really would like to go with black wheels or polished. I have seen a few bikes get parted out with the pair for sale and that was my line of thinking.

Re: Rear Wheel Interchangability?
I have a 900rr rear wheel and it bolted right on using all the stock vtr spacers/axle. The 900rr is a 5.5 inch wide rim while the 929/954 is a 6.0 inch rim. Although that measurement is at the lip, I'd be concerned that the hub is wider too to handle it. I dunno' if that's true. Probably not.

Re: Rear Wheel Interchangability?
Thanks Doug.
I have searched a few "aftermarket" suppliers with no luck on reference to interchanging.
From initial inspection the swingarm is wide enough for a bigger tire, but there could be chain alignment / clearance issues.
One site shows the RC51 as having the same wheel (not the same brakes or sprocket) as the VTR.
Anyone have a stock VTR rear rim they want to sell?

Re: Rear Wheel Interchangability?
Hey your in luck, I just today bought a 900rr rear wheel. As soon as I get it and make sure it's straight, (this is my third attempt on ebay for a wheel), I'll have a rear with polished lip for sale. If you can wait I'll let you know as soon as I get it.
That is if you want to polish your lip. Why don't you just powder coat your wheel? I know I'm screwing myself here but you could get it done.

Re: Rear Wheel Interchangability?
Ask him to measure the width of the hub, (including the cush drive), then measure the same on the superhawk rim. This will tell you whether you have to mess with spacers. Then you need to find out if the width of the tire will interfere with the chain at all.

The 5.5" on the SH was not widely used by Honda. Lots of 5" and 6" wheels though.
I believe the rim code is D72 if that helps you in your search.

Re: Rear Wheel Interchangability?
cbr f4, f4i, 900rr, 919, blackbird, vfr 750 (90-93) vfr 800 (98-01), vfr vtec (02-present) all have a 5.5x17 inch rear.
If that's not widely used by Honda, I don't know WTF is. The VFR's can't be used, obviously, unless you are using a SSS.

Damn, I sure missed it in all the discussion where the CBR f4 and f4i was a 5.5"! That qualifies for widely used for sure!
