R/r blocking voltage from stator?

When I check the a/c voltage from the stator at the rr it is less than 10 v. If i unplug the rr and then check the voltage from the stator is great. 20+ voits and more as i increase rpm. Can a bad rr kind of block the reading from the stator ? RR Is than year but is cheap one from dennis kirk.

Yes a bad R/R will cause all kinds of weirdness.

The only place that has lifetime warranty R/Rs is http://www.motovoltage.com

They also show how to test your stator, if it passes this test, your stator is fine:

Make sure you check the connections under your seat close to the tank. If these corrode they can cause a problem. I just had to fix mine.

My Motovoltage R/R should be here today. It will plug in to the connector right at the tank, and connect directly to the battery. Russ (CircuitBurner) has been great on the phone and has plenty of knowledge to share, plus other stories.

If you listen to him, he'll tell you that R/Rs are like tires, they will eventually wear out. His comes with fans, and seperates the Regulators from the Rectifiers so that they do not share heat.

The best benefit of buying from Russ, you support a member of OUR community (and you can take it off the SH if you ever sell it and put it on your next bike).
