Question Ordering R/R, need advice

Hi gang, I got my VTR recently and after reading all the related threads, I am in the stage of ordering R/R and CCTs, but let's focus on R/R for a moment.
Although it seems that many of you switched to R1/R6 model(s), I would prefer to stay with something that is actually built for VTR and plugs right in. So, checked this place http://www.regulatorrectifier.com/ca...ex.html?page=2 as recomended in one of the threads I found in KB. They carry 3 finned R/Rs that would fit VTR, two of them look exactly the same but are different price, and the third one which is listed as OEM Honda part.
If anyone has any experience with this web site and/or any of the 3 offered models - or knows anything about the difference in price for two models that look exactly the same?!? - it would be much appreciated.

TIA and all the best.

when i replaced mine I just went with the latest version for the superhawk - it was upgraded with a bigger heat sink and fins - looks like the one listed there. it has worked fine.

If you want standard stuff that will pop, go for the chinese or OEM.
If you cannot possibly afford to have one go out while far away, go here.
www.motovoltage.com lifetime warranty. No one else even give you a week.
They cost more but you get what you pay for.

Reviving this since my R/R arrived today.
I will hopefully install it this weekend but before I do that, just wanted to ask whether there is any specific procedure for this - like disconnecting the battery first, or such?!? Or, can I just plug it in and screw in place while engine is not running?
As far as wiring, this plugs right in (OEM), however I don't want to plug it in and burn something
TIA

Just make sure your negative cable is secure on the battery 1st...
then, 2nd, dont spark or scratch the positive a bunch when you connect it.
This way you dont "spook" the regulator.
