ignition (key) problem.

So riding in to work today, I stopped for a fill up. And as I went to leave, my key would no longer turn the ignition.. Felt like the wrong key, simply would not turn.

Spent about 3 min fiddling, removing, reinserting etc, till finally it turned.

So I rode home and grabbed the car.

When I get home I will spray some WD or similar lube in there to see if that helps.

Oh the joys of older bikes

Noooooooooooooooooooooo WD-40! Sorry just had to stop ya. Make sure you use a proper "lock" graphite/lube. WD-40 or simalar oils will work for a short time then just gum up and collect more nasties to screw up that ignition further.

Check that the key is flat... I have once made mine slightly twisted due to not pushing the filler lid enough, and had similar problems...

Key is flat.

I have some Gun oil, and some lithium based spray.. Would either of those work? Or do I need to track down some graphite stuff?

I'd stay with the lock specific dry lube, ie. graphite type lock lube. Thats what it's made for.
