Gas Tank Key

I just got a new gas tank, but I want to know if it is possible to take the lock out of my old tank and put it in the new tank. I will probably wind up just switching the whole cap assembly, but the new tank has a fancy carbon fiber cap cover.... If there is a way to just switch out the lock barrels PLEASE tell me. Thanks!

You should be able to change the whole lock assembly over pretty easily, do a search or check for a similar topic on re-keying a few days ago with an explanation on how to remove it.

if you dont mind 2 keys, just take off the gas cap assembly and take to lock smith, theres control numbers on there.the lock smith can punch this in computer and make a key in about 2 mins,i had to do that for seat lock,2 mins for 25 bucks,it sucks but is quick and easy.
