front axle removal

Does anyone know what is needed to remove the front axle? Is it a special tool or just a big socket like the rear?

Just a socket. You will need to support the front wheel while you are removing the axle so as not to bind the axle on the bearings.

Thanks hun. I got a bike jack from a friend's dad so that will take care of that. It's so close to being finished I can hardly stand it at all!!!

IIRC, it's a 22mm head. Stick a screwdriver through the holes on the other side of the axle to help pull it out after removing the bolt. Don't forget to loosen the pinch bolts. On reinstall, lube it up good so it will be much easier the next time.

Speaking of special tools, if you don't have a socket that big the wrench in the tool kit works quite well.
