Fork Seal Blown!

Well my 2002 Superhawk was delivered last thursday and on my first real ride (last Friday) I noticed the left fork seal was leaking.

I had my mechanic check it out and we order a seal kit. He said the fork isn't bent, but this is common if the guy that owned it before me did a lot of wheelies.

Anyways wanted to see if there are any tick things to do while I am working on the forks.

Thanks for any input.

Sean

Change out the fork oil. Respring the forks. Shave down the rebound adjuster. Pretend it's a light-saber and wave it around.

Am I the only one that does the last one?

This bike will never see a track. Is a respring/revalve neccessary?

I ride motocross and that is the first thing I did to my KX 450, but what about on the street?

Thanks

it helps for the street... will help even more if you ride hard on backroads or the track. btw mine needed replacing and it was before I ever wheelied... heh

If you have the forks disassembled then I would do the springs and valving for sure.

The standard Honda fork settings are only ok for someone the weight of your 12 year old sister. As long as she doesn't like doughnuts. Anyone heavier than that and they are no good.
