Fork Removal
I don't have a triple tree stand (only reg front fork stand).
Thinking I can just put a block of something or jackstand under the engine? Looking for idea's or some pictures. Bike will have to stay this way while the forks are being rebuilt ....want it to be secure/stable. |
You can support it from below as you outline, but IMO that's not very stable with this bike. Add some straps and hang it from the rafters for stability.

Yea i did the board and floor jackstand when I replaced my rear shock. Ended up replacing my tank also. It's the coming down part you got to worry about. Just make sure you have someone on both sides of bike on way down.

If you're looking for a bit of added security.
Rear on a stand, 24x24 or larger piece of 3/4 plywood with two eye bolts at the edges.. place the plywood under the bike, roll the floor jack on top of the plywood use a small piece of wood on the jack pad,, Lift the bike under the motor at the oil pan..Then use two straps from bike to eye bolts in plywood to stabilize the bike |
get a stand. You can get them for forty something clams on fleabay. If you do the mickey mouse thing and tip the bike you will spend way more than that on parts in damage, not to mention if it lands on you (it will).
It is beyond worth having since you own a bike and you can sell it for what you paid when your done. (I had one 3 yrs and got my money back). |
