Fitting a Steering damper

Hi. I'm a brand new member so please bear with me.
Great to see M&M win his 2nd Moto GP World Title in Japan.....Will see him at our beautiful Philip Island next weekend
Anyway... I just bought one of those "cheap" steering dampers from China for my 2000 VTR 1000F (Firestorm in Aus) This is a "universal fit" and came without any fitting instructions. It seemed quite straightforward...But I cant get full lock. How many different brackets have I made now??????
Has anyone fitted one, or similar in the past?
Any advice on how to fit?
and any comments on performance of the product please.

There are a few different types out there.

You need to be more specific, and post some pictures.

Thanks for your reply....I will post photos!
In the meantime, I may have found the solution.
There was excessive frame weld preventing the fork mounted bracket from turning all the way. I have relieved the weld, and modifying my bracket(attached to from front radiator mount) Looks like the fairing will not obstruct.
I will post final results...with pictures!
Thanks again..Dave
