Engine sounds like paint can
my engine rattles like a paint can when i go to accelerate. i fear my valves are bent but no sure. is it hard to change them out and how can i tell for sure if they are bent... i checked all the valves for clearance and they all checked good as best i could tell. where is the best place to get these parts?

i put new cct's in it and it went out of time. i fixed the time and now it rattles i hear it more on the rear of the bike and that is the cyl that was out of time.
its possible it is still out of time or it did cause some damage when you tried to correct it the first time.
you may need to take off rear cover and make sure its still on time, and maybe re-check the valves and such.

The quick and dirty way to do a fast check would be check the valve clearances.
If they are in spec, reset the timing and see what happens.
If the clearances are out of spec to the high side, then you have valve train damage.

my engine sounds a lil like a paint can but thats because
one I need to install my superdutyd CCTs and take out my home made ones that havent been adjusted or checked in a year
and two I hear ticking cuz I need to shim my valves (30,000 on the ODO and they were last done around 16,000) but Im doing a motor rebuild this winter so i dont see the point in doing it for 2 or 3 more months of riding

What you're describing sounds like detonation (uneven combustion, caused by low octane fuel).
Try running premium, 91 octane, and see if that stops the noise. You may have carbon build-up in the combustion chambers, causing higher compression and a need for higher octane gas.
Edit: I just read the 3rd post. You need to go in and double check your valve timing and cam chain tension before riding it. If you'd bent valves, you'd only be running on one cylinder, or very low on power.
