Electric help-speed sensor

Electric help-speed sensor
I need help trouble shooting a speed sensor problem. My panel went dead. Blown fuse. Brown wire in main harness grounded. Traced the issue to the speed sensor (I think).
My skills electrically are limited but I do have a cheap multimeter.
Once I disconnected the speed sensor, the problem in the main harness went away. I can't follow the test procedures for the speedometer or speed sensor because the fuse will blow.
After disconnecting the speed sensor, I connected the green wire to a good ground and the black lead on the multimeter. Touching the red lead to the pink wire or the black/brown wire showed an open circuit. I expected to find a ground.
Any ideas on what or how to check next? I would like to make sure I have a failed sensor before buying a new one for $70 plus.
Thanks

I bought some extra fuses and after looking at everything I could think of, I put everything back together with a new fuse. It didn't blow and now everything works. We'll see how long the happiness lasts.
