Cost of Parts and Labor on a CCT replacement on a 1998 SH

Hi guys,

Looking at getting a superhawk 1998 25k miles.

From what I can tell I should get the CCTs replaced ASAP.

What am I going to pay for in the way of:
a. Parts
b. Labor

to get the CCTs taken care of.

Thanks.

And his website: Krieger Cam Chain Tensioners

and relatively easy to DIY for free - just follow instructions to the letter in the workshop knowledge-base

Correction guys, bike is 35k

Live in the DC metro area.

I'm reasonably handy but the CCTs looked like a lot of work.

Thanks.

Read through this, see what you think, ask if you have questions. It doesn't take special tools, just a little time and patience. A shop will probably charge you 3-4 hours? I'm not sure. It should take them one, but I've never been impressed by cct labor quotes.

from what I've seen, the local shops around here charge about $300 to $400 for CCT change. 3 to 4 hour job they say. Mostly because they check valve clearances, check the oil, tire pressure, chain tension, seat comfort, ciggy breaks, etc........
Do it your self, save some cash, get to know your bike better and add your blood to the oil . Presto, it becomes yours!!
