Compression Question

Hello all, I have a question on compression. I have my carbs and valve covers off and decided to do a compression check.
Both cylinders are at 120, not sure if I should do something different. The number is even on both but shouldn't it be higher?

Yes indeed, a lot more than 120 would be good. I'll have to refer to the manual when I get a sec, but definitely higher than that. Could be a lot of reasons but the easy quick test is to add some oil to the cylinder then retest. If you have normal compression with a cap full of oil, you likely need a bore/hone/rings. Make sure you have the throttle wide open when cranking.

I don't recall that I've ever had 2 identical compression readings on an engine, even a fresh rebuild. I might suggest that you use a different gauge and run it again. Most automotive places, AutoZone, etc loan them out for free. Not saying that they are the most accurate, but.

Thanks for the response, I will grab another gauge and check it again. The bike runs smooth and very good.
Well see what the new gauge shows.
