Choke...? overlooked but left wondering...

I am trying to narrow down some issues with the fuel system of my shawk...

that being said, i have a service manual and owners manual and all they say about the choke is there is half choke and full choke.
On my bike, to start it needs a full choke (cold) but the choke **** doesnt "lock" at full choke, instead i have to hold it at full choke until it warms up enough to accept running at half choke
if i pull it to full choke and let go it slides to half choke where it rests comfortably. I've never had a choke that didnt "lock" in both half and full choke position. at first i thought it was weird but just accepted that it was a new bike and to get used to it. But upon narrowing down some issues, I was wondering if this is normal, or if it is actually supposed to "lock" at full choke?

Thats normal. I don't think there is a half/full lock, it is supposed to stay where you put it. Mine sucked in when I first got it too. There is a little rubber boot, on a nut that adjusts the tension on the choke cable. The boot/nut is on the outside of the clip the choke **** mounts to. Pull the boot off, and tighten that nut a little. It will stay where you put it after that.

Happy Riding!
