Just wondering, Who has the lowest Serial #?

Just wondering, Who has the lowest Serial #?
My last 3 digits in the vin are 114, I'm assuming that this means it was the 114th SH made. If that's true, it sounds like a pretty low #. Anyone have a lower vin/serial #?

Mine is stamped 12/97 and ends with 004096. Just so you know, it's the last six numbers that tell you what you are looking for.
the next(going in reverse) tells you what plant it was made in.
a=ohio usa
b=aalst belgium
c=saitama japan
d= guadalajara mexico
e= montesa spain
f=atessa italy
k=kumamtsu japan
m= hamamatsu japan ---mine was made here , so it would be the 4096 made at that plant
r= manaus brazil
s=suzuka japan
t= tochigi japan
4=south carolina usa
the next tells you the year model
w= 98......
when you get to 01 it goes to 1=01 2=02
the next is a random generated numder or x
the next 5 tells you the model we shoould all have sc360=vtr1000f rc040=cb740f.........
finaly the first 3 tells us that it is a motorcycle and what country it was made in
jh2=japan
1hf=usa
yc1=belgium
and so on.

i don't know, B R. If the last six digits are sequential for VTR production, that means they built half a million VTRs before my 5000xx '03. We know that's impossible.
If the last five or fewer digits are sequential for VTR production, then my 5000xx '03 is one of the first 99 VTRs ever produced. We know that's impossible as well.
How do you determine how many VTRs were produced before yours? Beats me. But nobody on this thread so far has the answer either.

As my bike sits at the side of the house awaiting a backordered gasket from my local crappy honda dealer.I joined up just to answer your question.Ive been looking at my VIN# for yearsThe bike was made 10/97 its an 98 model the last six digits are what counts.Mine are 000518.The first two are the model run..00=1998 up to 80=2006 the last four are order made.Theres another site where you can register by VIN# The 1998-00-bikes end at 8008 the 1999-10-ends at 4727....2000-20-ends at 3481....30-2247.....40-872....50-1029.....60-1021.....70-381....80-134..... So having used all my brain power up Im going too round up and squint my eyes and say 22,497 Super hawks were made.Theres no way it could be 450,000 Thats crazy talk,that would mean 20 million CBR600's Any ways thats my guess and you can quote me on it (all disclaimers apply) .

You'd have to believe that between 1997 and 2003 Honda produced a maximum of 98 VTR1000f motorcycles. I'll bet my house, my girlfriend, my F-150 4X4, my gun collection, my dog, and my Superhawk that that is unbelievable.

the only info I could find (from a clymer's manual) has numbers for engine and frame number (not VIN, though that may be derived from one or the other) and they indicated those were sequential based on year and production.

No, like I said before the last 5 digits is what # your bike is. It starts over every model year. How is it unbelievable that they only had 100 made by 10/02 for the 2003 models? The VTR was not a hot seller, especially by 2003.
I'd have to do more research but I'm assuming that the 6th digit back is the sequential production year. Yours is a 2003 being the 5th year of production, mine is a 2005 being the 7th year in production.... my 6th digit is 7. I could be waaaay of on this though.

Hell man. I know VTRs were a slow seller by '03, but less than a hundred produced for the entire world market in 10 months? No way. Between us, OzFirestorm and VTR UK, there are more guys than that posting about their '03s.
I thought the same as you that the "5" (sixth digit from right) on my bike might be build date or model year number, but here's the problem; my '02 build date is the SIXTH year of build dates and my '03 model year is the SIXTH year of model years.
Besides, the tenth digit (from the left) of the VIN denotes the model year. They used letters up through 2000, then numerals. My '03 has "3" as the tenth digit. I'll bet your '05 has "5" as the tenth digit. So the first of the last 6 digits must be something else.
OK. The last six digits are the "sequential production number". For all Honda motorcycles? For all Honda vehicles? Certainly not for VTRs. They didn't build half a million VTRs ever. 2 days ago i didn't give a **** but now I'm curious. If you figure it out for sure, let us know.
