cam gear timing marks
i was ridding at 60mph when the engine started knocking and died when i pulled in the clutch. i turned it over when i got it home to see where the noise is comming from and it fired but died. the knocking seems to be coming from the front. so i pulled the valve cover and spark plug. the front cylinder is moving up and down so the next thing i want to do is make sure it didn't jump time but can't find where the marks on the gears should line up. please help.

So i figured it out it was not the cct on the front cylinder it is the one on the rear.

So it was a rear CCT failure? Did you go through the steps to check valve timing on the front and rear?

I'm going to replace both of the ccts (OEM replacements are $83) any suggestions on which ones are the best. |

Go for manuals. I got mine from Superdutyd and am really happy with them. Make sure to look at the guides when you take the valves out as well. When mine went (both intake valves on front cylinder) both guides were cracked as well.

4 bent valves, piston is fine and the valve seats look fine.
Thanks for the help. |
Ugh that sucks! How do the guides look? Mine had three cracks in each one with the bent valves.
