bafflectomy help!

I drilled 4 holles in each baffle wall and now the sound is great! The problem is...my bike runs hotter?WTF?

Circuit_Burner 06-06-2009 04:24 PM

Are the holes going thru the outside of the can? lol

Syclone 06-06-2009 05:18 PM

I find it hard to believe that an increase in heat is related to free-er flowing exhaust.

Technically, the engine would be running a bit leaner and thus a bit hotter but I removed the rear baffles completely from my stock cans before I got the Jardines and there was no perceivable increase in engine temps.

the holes are are inside of the cans...

That means if you richened the jetting to whatever it wants, you gain Horsepower.
Not so bad.

merlyn 06-07-2009 02:32 AM

could be this a problem...the heat?should I rejjet the carbs to get rid of this>???

Syclone 06-07-2009 05:48 PM

This bike doesn't necessarily need a re-jet for exhaust, and unless you pulled all of the guts out of the stock pipes, I really doubt you leaned up the engine enough to cause a temperature spike.

Who knows if the jetting was even in the ball-park to begin with ?
Bring a bike from colorado to texas and it will run lean as hell.

when an engine is too lean, adding fuel( richening ) will bring up the horse power and lower the combustion temp.
Add an aftermarket exhaust and this same thing is what will happen.

Not to sound obvious, but it's summer. The farther you get into June the hotter the bike will run - yes, even in Romania. You're about the same latitude as US and in the northern hemisphere.

thanks
