Air screws do they have to be the same ?

the 2 air/fuel screws in the carbs, do they have to stand the same way or ?

I mean front cyl. 2 1/3 out
the rear cyl. 4 1/5 out

good or bad for the engine ?

Jens.

Sounds like the rear pilot jet is clogged. The screws are normally a little different, with the rear being open maybe 1\8-1\4 of a turn more.

The fact that the rear is open so far ( around 3 turns out is as far as you should go before switching to a larger jet) and so different from the front points to a problem with the jet.

They can be cleaned but it is easier to spend the $5 and just get a new one.
Or replace them both while you are in there.

Agreed... That different indicates that something is wrong... But it you set them right they will end up slightly different...

On the race SV with flat slides i'm running slightly different main jets because the rear cylinder seams to get more hot than the front. This is a fine tuning thing though that can only be done on a dyno and closely monitoring cylinder head temp and exhaust header temp.

Slightly differnent pilot / air screw adjustments is normal. What you are describing is way out of wack.
