AMA Superbike, Race 1 (Saturday) had a crazy ending during the last 2 laps.

With 2 laps to go, Ben Bostrom (running 3rd on Tommy Hayden's rear wheel) gets stuffed by an idiot backmarker, dashing his chances of advancing to 2nd, or perhaps even 1st. Josh Hayes was leading, but fading fast.

Then the Jordan Suzuki rider, Brett McCormick, takes his left hand off the bar mid corner (after apparent contact with Zemke moments earlier), crashing big time and causing a red flag with the 3 leaders just a few turns from the finish. Tommy Hayden had passed Josh Hayes and was set up to take the win.

According to the rules, the finishing order was backed up to the previous lap. Hayes, Hayden and Bostrom, in that order.

That's racing, and Hayden and Bostrom handled it well during the post race interview. But that backmarker didn't make any friends on the track.

 

It was a great race in the making but the ending sucked. The backmarker stuffed B Boz more than once. Just wow.
