MotoGP 08
I dont know how many of you guys and gals follow the moto gp drama and excitement, or even do any gaming for that matter.
But if you are really into watching or following motogp races, you may like what game Ive started playing in the little spare time I have.
Capcom released a PC version of this and its multiplayer too.
MotoGP 08 really is gorgeous and the play is top notch.
Definitely more of a simulator than a video game.
I would suggest getting this and maybe racing online in a league or club.
Me and my old riding buddy are signing up for some sanctioned races next week. Our bikes will have our own team logo and paint.
I will get some screens and a few fraps videos posted here within hours.

xBox 360 version
I just came home with the xBox 360 version of MotoGP '08 last week. ...I suck at it. :P But it is fun.
Like some of my video games I play - I'm like a toddler, and am sorta just plain old horrible at it. ...But I'm having fun so I keep playing.

heres 3 shots from the sanctioned race tonite that took over a month to arrange.
The simulation is pretty awesome to tell you the truth.
The demo I tried 1st was free.
Get your demo here - http://files.filefront.com/MotoGP+08.../fileinfo.html
You only get a one lap race on one bike with the choice of 2 riders.
The free track is Mugello.
Im buying the full version tomorrow for 20 bucks, and its full featured then. Lots of tracks including Laguna Seca and Isle of mann.
Definitely not a disappointing kiddie game.
Cant wait to get out some virtual Laguna Seca.
This simulation is way friggin bad ***.
Especially if you have a killer video card.

I have very specific feelings on this subject. I used to own motogp3 and have played several newer versions but unfortunately, as far as realism, and accurate feel, there is a game that blows all the motogp games I've played away. its Tourist Trophy for the PS2. I know the any game on the 360 is gonna have the edge in graphics, although TT is no slouch. it has an ingame option to change the signal to HD even before there were consoles for HD. its made by the same people who make Gran Tourismo. tons of bikes to choose from, all production accurate and some "special" historical bikes. if you have a PS2, then check it out. its gotta be dirt cheap by now. and tell me which you think feels more like riding a real bike. MotoGP, or TT? people who play in the 3rd person view need not reply as they are newbs. kidding, mostly.
I've had that MotoGP 08 for a few months now on the PS3. I agree that it is an awesome game and that anybody with an interest in sport bikes would have a total blast with it.
It took me quite a while to get good at it. As soon as I started winning some races I started to go to more advanced handling modes. The game has three different modes, each more realistic than the last. Just when I have about mastered the simulation mode (which is very difficult) I start to get on faster and faster bikes which I have found to be utterly impossible to keep under control. I find it a lot more fun to use the advanced setting rather than the simulation, unless I'm feeling up to a real challenge.

I've got MotoGP 08 for the Wii, where you have to actually lean into the corners
. The graphics suck on the Wii as compared to any other platform, but the leaning is cool; Especially when using the on bike view.

On the PC, you have more control options.
I seriously am going to gut-out an old steering wheel controlle, to make some clip-ons. with twist trottle, and levers for brakes.
If I could improve that one area of interface, it would be way better.
And in the 3 different realism modes, the highest level called "simulation" is really hard until you commit to practice. If you run into the grass and turn the bars at all you flop down. The grass is very slick in that mode. Bouncing of other riders throws you off your bike easier.
And the road itself gets slicker and stickier in areas.
The mode we are racing in(server settings) is Medium or "advanced", you still pitch the bike if you ride in the grass and turn or try peeling out in the gravel, but the road effect seems really realistic feeling here. theres lots of G induced tire sliding and wobbles ( think casey stoner ) and unwanted wheelies that you didnt know about until your steering didnt steer you. Whatever our server is set to is what everyone participating in the race will have for realism settings. People will hack of course but this games not a big target for that.
The really luring part of any game to me is being able to meet a challenge from other live people in the world. We had a world ranked battlefield vietnam team for a couple years and that was some fun stuff when playing in a league on a tight team.
This racing thing looks like it would be a good competitive sport.
I just want to see how fast those other teams are getting around the track.
In multiplayer mode, I cant tell what others lap times are yet ( im a noob still )
And, its entirely possible to model and add bikes to this game that arent built in.
Now its not an easy thing if you dont do 3d models and mess with coding game engines,
but there will be a Superhawk in race trim added to our server someday soon.
If you get the PC version , and can run it online, I will give you our server address and you can come race with us on friday and saturday nights. (fridays the weekly race, saturdays practice racing)

Check out this motoGP for PC hacked to use a Wii remote for controls in action, complete with throttle control by twisting the remote...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8myFzMZ_vc
Unfortuantly the new Wii only version does not let you use the controls in this config.
