First racer of 2013 dies on the Isle Of Man
No offense, but is this really a good subject for a thread? As a lifelong racer, I kind of take offense.
Racing is an artform and sport. Death is not a reason for briinging attention to it.
Lowest common denominator/trainwreck tv yes, but poor taste.

Why do they do it? To prove they can I suppose in spite of the horrific price if they don't make it. In my opinion this race is the highest of all "art" as you put it, because you pay the highest price for not pleasing the "critic" which is the race track.
If you're really a "racer" you better put your fear behind you because the boogie man will come and get you riding scared....
You should be offended about something REALLY scary and do something about the squids wheeling it on crowded freeways or killing themselves by running into innocent people driving down the road.
I agree with this 100%
Thanks, but I am capable of deciding what offends me. This thread is it.
If you want to bring attention to racing, it should be for the brillaint skill and dicipline involved. Not the death of a racer.
I lost my brother on the track & would be seriously pissed if some lowlife used it for amusement on a forum, not even knowing him.
But I guess that speaks to the type of person who would post this kind of thing.

If the thread offends you, don't read it, respond to it or look at it. I might post pictures of hot paddock women next but judging by your attitude, that will probably make you cry.
How was this article offensive or amusing? I lost a friend this month when he balled himself up in 75ft of rusty barbedwire breaking his neck and slashing his throat and I'm not offended. IOMTT is the closest thing to how we ride, no runoffs, no softwalls and nothing to catch us but barbedwire and oak trees. I hope to race it one day. But jeez, don't publish my obit here, might be too amusing.

AND as promised:

Hope that doesn't OFFEND anyone's tender sensibilities.......but if it does, tough.

+1. I don't see the lowlife connection to posting this.
In fact, if asked point blank before your response to it, I'd be inclined to point out the opposite. Recognizing the high danger of the sport, especially on road like conditions, even professionals are at high risk. Constant reminders that we need to be careful every day are healthy in my opinion... I try to remember every time I put on those gloves that it's survival out there, but seeing the real and current danger of it just reinforces that.
I'm not a racer and I'm sorry to hear about your brother. Maybe my response to this sort of thing would be different if I had a history like yours...

Likely I have lost more friends, co workers, associates and people I Am directly responsible for than most others on this board ...To include friends and fellow riders from motorcycle related events. on track and off.
Yet in no way can I find the original post offensive...
It's racing, it's dangerous, it's exciting, it's fun, it scares the hell out of me at times..and I can't think of a better way to spend a weekend.
Isle of Man is a dream, I'll never race it, but one day I'll watch from the sidelines... I will go for the racing, I may see a death or injury..thats not why Im there, but if it happens it will not change how I feel nor cause me to complain that someone posted on an internet forum that said death or injury happened.. hell even if it's mine when i get smacked by a crashing bike at speed.

Joe, I understand where you coming from, I also lost friends... But.. it would not change what I feel about it.
Even if there was something offensive about this post, It would not make a difference what so ever to me, feelings are just what they are, we can choose what we feel, that is what make us different from other species
No offense here, IOMTT is as dangerous as it gets...I don't think a bunch of motorcycle fans need to be reminded of racing because of the death of a racer. And informing a group of like-minded motorcycle lovers of what had happened doesn't seem to terrible to me either.
100% not offended here either. I don't see anyone amused by the death of a racer. Bringing light to a tragedy is offensive? If I wadded it up and died, I wouldn't mind the couple of people I know personally on this forum announcing it on a thread. Jebus cryst! If you don't like it, don't look at it. If the lyrics offend, turn the **** off!!
The man died doing what he loves to do, I've known many who didn't. And it ticks me off when hot chicks wear way too much clothing, like in the pics you've posted.
