Bruce Penhall's son killed by drunk driver

Conner Penhall, son of World Speedway Champion Bruce Penhall, was killed by a drunk driver last night. Conner was operating a concrete saw on a closed section when the drunk driver drove through the cones and signs and hit him.

Bruce Penhall's parents started Penhall Company (concrete coring and sawing) decades ago in Southern California. They died in the 1980's in a plane crash, while returning from a ski trip at Mammoth Mountain. The parents of another OC Speedway rider, Dennis Sigalos (3rd at 1982 World Championships), were also on that plane.

I watched Bruce Penhall race many times at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa. I was at the races almost every Friday night in the 1980's. Bruce was racing mostly in England and Europe then, but when he would come back to his home track he would amaze the crowd with his riding.

Sorry I don't know how to post a link, but it's all over the internet.

This is truly a sad day for the Penhall family. My heart goes out to them.
