Yoshimura pipes just mounted
Yoshimura pipes just mounted
here are a few pics of the pipes mounted. They sound badass! a bit too loud for me actually, it gets old pretty fast. They look great though and they do not interfeer with my heels, the pipes clear the heel with a good amount of room, if I really tippy toe it then the first mount bar hits my heel. the funny thing is that there is no mount clamp where the pipes mount to the headers under the bike. the pipes have some shortty baffles that are removable but I didn't try it without the bafffles removed, not too interested. I will try and look for some longer baffles or else maybe sell the pipes and find something quieter but with some thump. I love the mount though....
Looks to me like you got a pair of Yosh knock-offs. The angled extension on the end cap is way too long (my RS3's only stick out 1" at the bottom). And the street baffles should be recessed, unless someone installed them backwards.
Also, there should be 8 rivets at each end. I only see 4.

i am skeptical that they are fakes or else they are well made, the welds on this are beautifully done just like the ones on my rc51. I contacted yoshimura and sent photos, I'll let you know what they way. thanks.
You should be able to look at the ends of the cans (rear of the bike) and they should have the Yosh characters stamped into them. At least that is the case with mine, throughout the years this may have varied.
Anyone with newer style cans want to chime in?

I bought mine in April, 2010, after I was rear ended at a red light. They have the characters stamped in the top half of the rear end caps.
What stuck out to me was how far the angled extensions stick out from the end caps, and the street baffles protruding. No disrespect intended, just an observation.
And mine aren't too loud, except when I occasionally remove the street baffles.

Unfortunately, I'm technologically challenged. But if you look up "inderocker" in the member's list, he has pics of his bike with Yosh cans. His bike is also on bikepics.com under Honda VTR1000F, 2005. Or you could check the Yoshimura website.
I just installed Yoshimura pipes recently as well and they definitely look a bit different. There is a pretty good close-up (without baffles) in my forum albums if tou want to take a look... (Sorry can't copy/embed the image easily on the iPad.)

Your pipes are the RS-3's, same as on my rc51. I'm not thinking that they are the same.
my pipes are definitely not the rs-3's or any of there newer generation pipes they currently offer, they may be something circa '98 and discontinued is my thought...
Thanks for the pic

Regardless of brand/model... Your pipes still look nice!
so I just got a response from the people at Yoshimura. I provided them with photos and they said it is the RS-3 system for the bike but has been out of production for some time. So it is a genuine Yoshimura but a discontinued part. Thanks guys.
