A VTR1000F... With Fuel Injection?!?!?
As some of you may or may not already know, Europe has a Honda version of the DL1000... the XL1000V Varadero. I mention this because the Xl1000 use's the same motor as the VTR1000... well almost the same motor. Among other minor differences come one difference I think the VTR should of come with in the first place.. FUEL INJECTION! Does anbody know if the throttle bodies are a direct bolt up? Obviously you'll need the XL's wiring harness, electronic gadgetry and a fuel tank from a VFR or something. Is it possible to get european parts here in the U.S.?

Heh... I actually tried to talk him into lending me the parts to try on my bike a bit back... unfortunatrely he's the type that leaves it at the dealers for any thing more complicated than a washing...

Fuel economy - 50mpg, snappier throttle, intresting mod.
All in all I bet it's more of a headache than it's worth.... but if anybody ever had the time...

In fact the whole bike is made out of VTR parts...
The swingarm is identical, the forks are the same, just longer inner tubes/springs, The wheels are the same, brakes was the same until 07 (06?) when they updated them and added optional ABS. the headers up until the bolt to the "slip-on" is identical...
Basicly another frame, bodywork and higher fork/rear shock, Fi and a larger tank and you got it...

Fuel economy would be my reason too... The ability to tune it to good power without wasting fuel is superior on an Fi bike...
Plus I have a kompressor that would fit nicely once the bike was Fi'd...

Would anyone across the pond mind getting me a price on the throttle body assembly. I'm sure the cost is outrageous compared to other solutions i've looked into. I can't seem to find a price online.
I've been researching, for the last few weeks, as many possibilities to get fuel injection on a SuperHawk and claiming all oem parts is an interesting idea. Especially if it would be closer to a bolt on then anything else.
Pretty Pretty Please!

I'm going down there to check the price of some parts for my front end swap tomorrow... might as well annoy them even more...
But you probably need the electronics and brain aswell...

Forks tubes are 43 mm.
Brakes have the CBS system, so caliper are really different and left fork slider have a specific support for this system
Front wheel is a 19"
Rear wheel is 17" but it's narrower (4")
For Inderocker:
throttle bodies are 42 mm, so I think that it's impossible to use them on an SH without a consistent loss of power.
Varadero engine is rated for 95 hp Vs 110 of VTR.
Bye

The only thing the RVT and the VTR motors have in common is the v-twin configuration. From what I understand the XL1000 and the VTR1000 are the same motor. I'd have to assume that the XL might have different cam timing, ignition timing, transmission ratios, etc...

Oh you mean better fuel economy like as in RC51 better? LOL
To make power, you need fuel. Big, powerful twins are thirsty. If you want to neuter the 'hawk with a small FI system, you might achieve some limited results but you'd need the matching cams and gearing also to really do it right.
By better economy, do you want to improve the range? If so, a larger tank would be a much easier and cheaper route.

IIRC, Canada will be getting the Varadero in '08. A quick google:

Why does Canada get the CB1000F and not us!?!?! Seriously!?!? Europe (and obviously Canada as well) get pretty much every bike on the U.S. lineup, and then a whole host of other cool steeds. Do Japanese manufacturer's hate the U.S. or what??
