was this a direct bolt match or did you have to do any mods to get it to fit?

They are direct bolt on. There is a list of calipers that work in the KB section of the forum.

Also, great deal on those Billzilla15! They are getting more and more rare and finding them at that kind of price is a win!

All excited (UPGRADES)- just got a set of these on E-bay for about what Billzilla15 got his for.. Please Anyone tell me their opinion on how to change the color from the gold to Black ? Is the coating a paint or powder coating from the factory?

You can buy some G2 caliper paint and brush it on. The stuff works great!

Kick ass man, good find. If I'm not mistaken, a larger volume then stock in the caliper means more travel in the brake lever. More modulation is a good thing IMO.

This is the very first mod I did to my Superhawk. Everybody bitches about the shitty suspension but for me the brakes were just downright dangerous. The suspension was soon to follow but there were first and I love them. They prob saved my life during my wreck in '07. You bought your with the right money too!

I used the 6 pot calipers and RC51 MC (small bore and large, liked the large bore better) for more then 2 seasons. They were nice, better then stock, but I really wanted to use the Vesrah RJL Pads.
So I switched to F4i calipers and MC loaded with RJL's .

I would have to say, after looking on the CBR, Rouge RC51, and E-bay forums (if asked) the direct bolt on of the GSX-r calipers compared to the brackets/calipers will undoubtably be more cost conservative (Being cheap) Arev these brake pads "Vesrah RJL Pads" really hard to purchase? And why?

They look really similar to the ones I put on my bandit from a late 90's gixxer, but alas, the caliper bolt spacing is way off...too bad. Those are easy to find, as they were used on a ton of different bikes, and came in black. The big bummer about the 6 piston tokico's in my experience, is that they tend to get crap in around the seals easily and start to drag pistons. I've had to rebuild a few sets over the years between various bikes, though they aren't hard to work on. They're also pretty hefty, but stop pretty well. Still, iron rotors and HH pads along with braided lines on the VTR make it stop pretty ferociously, even with the stock nissins.

Billzilla15's bike looks great with those big 6 pots.:D. Once set up air free, SS lines and good pads like EBC HH. They are a much better set up then OEM.

I prefer the feel, bite, fad resistance of the set up I have now,, but that means little if another is happy with what they have.

Next for me is Brembo calipers, radial MC and some new EBC disks.. :p

Nothing beats the bling of a 6p caliper. I used the same caliper wyldryce put on his Bandit on my first-gen Triumph Trident. They bolted right on, too. The trick Hawk GT mod is one GSXR 6p on an adaptor plate, but I had a 6p PM caliper on mine. A bit of an overkill on a 390lb-bike, but braking is important to me.

I just swapped over to the RC51 calipers and am waiting for the master... <$100 total. The stock brakes were fine for a streetbike, but sort of sucked as a sport machine. The gold 4p "brembo-looking" RCs don't have the visual appeal of the GSXR calipers to me, but they're a gateway purchase to a CBR / RC front end (hopefully) next spring. ;)

What is the center to center distance of the mount holes?

Look like earlier GSXR brakes, I have a set laying in the garage. Same as the ones used on the Kaw ZRX1200 too, have a set of them in the garage too. We were playing with fitting them to the Kaw Eliminator. A friend sent the Kaw set to me and I have to scope out an Eliminator to make the mount plates if I can do so.

From what I've understood from the ZRX forum as well as the Triumph, a lot of those guys replace these specific calipers with 4 piston Nissin calipers for better braking. Seems those early ones tend to have the pistons stick, calling for a fair amount of preventive maintenance. Don't know about those later ones with the offset Tokico lettering.

I read that too. I also read that these tend to fade when used hard. Many GSXR owners apparently "upgraded" to Nissins (like on F4i, RC51,....), supposedly some of the very best OEM calipers every offered....

my bike came with GSXR750 front and 6 pots, but VTR master cylinder which is 14mm axial
do you used the VTR MC or a bigger one(gsxr for 6 pot is 16mm)
the brake on my bike feels a little soft and not so stoppy
however, i have no expirince with the original brakes
my comparison point is my other bike
KTM 620 converted to SuMo bike with 320mm rotor, 4 pot brembo and 17,5mm radial MC from CBR600rr
the lever on it is wooden hard, but stopps like u hit a wall

you can try CBR929 or VTR SP1 brake master (19 mm). What I´ve heard, it works good on gsxr 750 srad.

929 is axial MC, the SP1 - i can`t tell

i think ot 19mm radial nissin MC, but it may still be a bit little
i got a brambo 16mm axial that sits in the garage but has no lever
will try to find a lever and try it

929 and SP1 is the same, both 19 mm axial, but working good.

You can for sure buy some radial brembo or accossato 19x16 and it will be even better :-)

edit: I think original setup for 750 srad is with 16 mm MC

actually i got another set of 6 pots with the 16mm axial brembo that came from GSXR750 Srad(i had them before i got the bike, now selling them on ebay)
thats why i will try the brembo master to see how will it feel

19mm axial seems pretty big to me since the diference between 1 and 2 caliper is 12 to 14mm master

19 mm axial works with four pistons calipers with 34 and 32 mm diameter, and Suzuki is known as using not perfectly working MC (compared to Honda good oem brakes on CBR 929/954). So 19 mm aftermarket radial with pivot allowing longer lever travel, you can´t be wrong. You can try CBR954 master also, this is 17,5 mm.

I run full CBR954 brakes and it works pretty well.

Do you think 17,5 radial will be beter than the 16mm brembo axial that i have?

i have 17,5 radial from 600rr 2008 on my KTM
i recently bought 16mm radial brembo for the KTM, so the 17,5 will be free to use
