For the hang method, I use neither of those points. I use the subframe crossbrace near the battery compartment. You'll need the seat off anyway to get to the top mount.

I started a link yesterday called moriwaki belly pan. it has some photos of the penske reservoir and where its mounted. should help.

it CAN'T be this easy...suspension/ tire time. just put my hawk up on the cheap motorcycle jack that my son bought for us to work on cruisers with. with kickstand up the bike rests on exhaust and lower fairing/ oil pan. real stable with bungee on one side and ratchet tie down on other. both wheels off ground and nothing in the way unless i needed to pull the exhaust. these jacks are about $100 or so at auto parts places. was going to fab up a stand to sit on the jack, but don't have to yet. wheels on the bottom so you can move the bike around, too. pictures later if i can figure out how.

I know this is an old thread but It really saved me alot of work when my shock failed. I made these stands from basement wood in a matter of minutes and the job was a snap.

Oh yeah. they hold a barbell bar that goes through in front of the passenger pegs; very stable. They are purposefully made at a 90 degree angle to each other for 2 dimensional stability
