So I got this RR a while ago & it was supposed to be from an R1, but it seems huge compared to the others I have seen pics of. Does anyone know what it is & the pos/neg orientation of the 2 right plugs?

saige 10-29-2010 09:38 PM

is there any numbers on that r/r if you type it into google,it should give you a description.
that is mighty big, that should stay nice and cool, the wires seem right.

smokinjoe73 10-29-2010 10:14 PM

Yeah, looks like too much for a bike. I just need to know which is + & -

saige 10-29-2010 10:20 PM

i couldnt tell you,the one i got doesnt look like that, with out the numbers,i wont be able to figure it out.
is there any model# sku# or anything at all on it.

It's for the newer R1, someone else on here already used one of those and had to cut some of the fins off to make it physically fit.

You can still use it, Power and Ground on the black plug, not sure which is which but I think + is inner, the yellow wires don't matter which yellow wire they hook up to.

Thanks, I couldnt find that old thread. I still think I might cut the fins. It a FH011AA. Google says its a really good RR

saige 10-29-2010 10:50 PM

you could extend the wires and mount it on the inside of the subframe instead of between sub and plastics.

ok,i figured it out,the black wire that is closest to the yellow wire is negative, the black wire farthest from the yellow is positive.

Eastern beaver has the connectors you want for the R/R you have, or can build a wiring pig tail for you.. Just depends on what you want.

The 08+ CBR 1000 are FH014 MOSFET CBR 1000 R/ R, and uses a newer style connector not yet available from what i can tell.

The FH011AA like you had was used on some Honda's (ie 2005 CBR1000) and the some Yamaha (04-06 YZF R1) It uses the same Furukawa connectors as the FH010 and FH012. The FH011AA is physically larger...and a 50 amp rating.

The more commonly used R/R for our bikes due to space is the FH010AA
https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...1&d=1288440908 Also a 50 amp rating. With a no load regulated voltage of 14-3-15.1v. mine came off a 07 Yamaha YZF R1.
This regulator uses the common Furukawa connectors.Kawasaki , Honda, Yamaha all used the FH010AA R/R.

What you have will work, you just have to modify it to fit.

+1 for Eastern Beaver and E. Marquez

OK so now its modified. Should fit better & I dont think I will miss the superfluous fins

superhawk71 05-23-2011 07:38 PM

hey where did you get your info on the wiring? All of my research shows the opposite as far as positive and negative.
I show that the farthest out post is - and the inner is +?
Can you verify that yours is right?

Wondering what happens if I try your way?

saige 05-23-2011 09:14 PM

as far as smokingjoes model goes, for him its correct.but there is differnt models,so you cant base this on yours, unless its the same exact r/r

Are you talking about my wiring? It is the R1 RR. I got the wiring diagram on this forum and it has been on the bike running (and charging) for a while now.
To my knowledge there is a sticky thread on here somewhere but do search for it. Dont go by the color of the wires in my pics, those were just temporary bridge wires. Go by this pic

The image smokinjoe posted is from this site. I used it when doing my R/R swap, it worked perfectly.

I'm not an electrical guy but in basic:

Rectifier: converts the alternating current (AC) from the stator/alternator, to direct current (DC) that the battery and electrical system uses.

Regulator: Restricts this charge so that it is not too much for the battery to handle- i.e. you don't fry your battery and electrical system when you're at higher rpms.

Regulator/Rectifier is the unit that performs both of these functions.

smokinjoe73 05-31-2011 07:33 AM

Hey fighter, that is the basic description but find the search function. The R/R that comes stock on the VTR is prone to failure so is a good thing to replace before it fails and leaves you stranded. That is what I did with this one in this thread.

Maybe we can get a button on here that is like a "do a search" song to let guys know to do it. There is tons posted on this topic [ RR, R/R, regulator/rectifier, etc]
