Question about the stock headers

I have taken all of the exhaust off to do some winter cleaning (rust removal pretty much). I am using the SOS pads that have soap in them already to prevent scratching. What I want to know is though is if there is some sort of coating from the factory. Is this true or can I keep going and just polish everything up?

Re: Question about the stock headers

As far as I know there is no coating on the headers from the factory.

You can get them Jet Hot coated for around $150 & never have to worry about discoloration again
I found a local ceramic coater that did my ceramic coating job for the same price & he polished them too.

A week or two depending how busy they are.

My local guy took 2 weeks cause he was pretty busy but did a nice job!

Re: Question about the stock headers

You can't beat the jot hot coating... I have a set of coated dynomax headers on my '66 Chevy truck and they hold up great and have a lifetime warranty against rust. I am planning to have my SH pipes done this spring...
