Pipes

I've had my VTR now for about a year now, time for some new pipes. I was wondering what are some good pipes for my bike and will I need to get my bike jetted. The louder the pipe the better.

thedeatons 02-12-2014 04:05 PM

Erion Racing.

See Hawk's jetting page, and my signature.

I'm a huge fan of Jardiens, and look to Hawks carb set up. I would do that before pipes even.

D&D or Micron for the Obnoxiously loud win :)

Saintunes for the reasonable sound and very high quality

I'm going carbon Delkavic's next week 350mm (14") :bling:
Bike is already jetted for debaffled stock mufflers.

Some are loud and others not so much. The JISU pipes seem to have a deep, mellow tone.

7moore7 02-13-2014 10:33 AM

Have you heard them on this bike? I'm not a fan of the GP ones I'm running currently... they're too raspy.

FTL900 02-13-2014 11:34 AM

I dunno, I'm running 2BR carbon high pipes, and they're pretty loud as well.

And I thought my Microns were kind of quiet and was curious what the D&D sounds like.. I can hear my buddies CBR929RR D&D over my exhaust when he is behind me sometimes

Now that's the sound I'm talking about!!!!

tomb393 02-14-2014 05:44 AM

I went with 2 Brothers and love the new style. They look and sound amazing! They require an upjet.

outrigger 05-06-2014 04:07 AM

I got some second hand old style 2bros and repacked them. Still ferociously loud, but can't get baffles to fit the old ends. Cop bait

I feel you on that! The round C-4 Two Brother's Carbon Fiber cans look and sound awesome, but with no baffles to purchase on the internet, we'll have to make our own. Neighbors haven't yet complained about my "Guns of the Navarone" going off at 6:30 am each morning...

There is a guy local that is working on low restriction baffle inserts of a universal nature
for "Sportsbike" types that aren't all about setting new records in sonic disruption. In talking to him I am told that the "inserts" will slide in the baffle tube and are secured by stainless
pop rivets. I am considering the possibility for my older Vance&Hines slipons. As he gets on
with the R&D I'll post his prices and applications.

I got the C2 oval cans, with the oval core (genius...) so even making a baffle is a pain. I was thinking of sticking one in the link pipe to see what happens...

Please do, especially if the inserts will be for the V&H slip ons

twinman 05-12-2014 12:57 PM

D&D probably be the loudest! I love mine, make sure to get the race pack

twist 05-12-2014 07:05 PM

I've a set of 2 brothers carbon cans and they are quite loud, very nice bark.

tomb393 05-12-2014 09:09 PM

I have the new style oval 2 Brothers cans and got silencer tips (2 bros calls them power tips). They install in 2 minutes.
I love the loud sound without them but my neighbors broadly don't. The tips I got ( I think P1) reduce the volume but leave a good amount of deep rumble.
I think there are other varieties for varying volumes.

I have these cans:
Two Brothers Racing, add an item to your shopping cart: Honda VTR1000 Black Series Dual Slip-on Exhaust System, Standard Mount - M-2 Aluminum canisters 005-700406DM-B

with these tips in black:
Two Brothers Racing, add an item to your shopping cart: M2/M5/M7 P1 Race Pipe PowerTip (-3 to 4 dB) 005-P1

There are 2 others tips that reduce the volume more. I am happy with these. If anything, I wish they had a another tip that reduced the volume less not more than the P1's.

nnjhawk02 05-18-2014 12:20 PM

I have an old set of black Erion Slipons - installed soon after I bought the VTR, so almost 12 years old, they ain't pretty but still sound good.

TboneNast 05-18-2014 04:32 PM

Pretty soon I'll be taking off a Two Brother's Carbon Fiber Round C4 set of cans - Happy to sell them to you. I'm removing them because they're TOO loud for me :)

jagg1174 08-08-2014 08:47 AM

I have the high mount two brothers titanium cans, l liked them at idle they had that deep grumble, but as they warmed up it got quiet, so I cut them down about 2.5 inches and now I'm in love! Still have that throaty rumble and cruising around 3 grand sounds awesome, not to mention when you open it up is just amazing, the reason I kept the bike in the first place instead of flipping it for profit.
