pair removal plates
pair removal plates
After reading every post on this topic, I have a couple unanswered questions. If I use block off plates, I can just leave the reed valves in, without reversing them, as a gasket right? Also, if I remove the valve do I have to plug the fitting on the airbox?
Yes, no need to do anything to the reed valve. Remove PAIR cap, replace with the block off plate.. your down. make sure you get the orientation of the block off plate correct... it only fits one way, any other way and it will not sit flat against the valve cover and have an exhaust leak.
Also reccomend ditching the OEM fasteners, using some socket head cap screws of a correct length, and a drop of med strength thread locker so they do not vibrate loose. Or drill um and safety wire them in place.

I tried them tonight, and they fit perfectly. I planned on keeping the reed holder in for the gasket. In order to do this, the little reed screw would have to be removed since it sticks out, and of course the reed would come out. If you remove the whole reed assembly, none of this matters and it will work as is. I may take them back to work and machine clearance for the screw.
Me too. But what about block offs for all that plumbing to the cylinder heads and airbox I would want to dump as well... if you can pull a full kit including those I bet most would buy all that as well... McMasterCarr has all the stuff I'm sure, just wouldn't know which to use at this point...
