clutch rod
 

Im wondering,haven't really found a for sure answer,can the clutch rod be pulled out and put back in without ruining anything at all or having to get it in a specific spot.will it slide right back into where it properly belongs.

I have a new/used one and im thinking just maybe mine is warped a bit,so wanna take it out and see.any advice would be great.

Yeah you can just pull it out. Look at it when you do as it does have two different ends on it, so you can make sure to put it back in the correct way. ;)

thanks alot,this helps alot,got the whole bike apart and trying to do as much as i can in one lump.
over heating problems,start button,clogged hoses,bad R/R,choke problems etc etc lol,its gonna be a long day.

No worries. I think the long machined end goes in first but it has been a while since I've had mine out.

It should show it in the service manual in one of the pics. ;)

i was looking at the new/used one and both ends are the same,no difference.

it will come out and go right back in with no problems

Are you looking at the ends themselves?

What I ment was the shaft itself should be turned down a few inches on one end.

I have a spare out in my stuff I'll try to get out there and look at it to see if maybe I'm just getting old......lol

See how it has the line towards the clutch slave cylinder?

Ok I just looked at my new one. One end has a black tip, that goes in first. The other end should have a long gold colored section or at least smooth looking. That end goes out as that is what rides in the seal.

So yes there are two different ends.

i see on mine where the wear marks at.one side is shiny which shows that was the cylinder side.
thats the only indication i have of which end goes in.it should work out,im about to get to that next.
i expected to be done with everything arond 9,but you know how that goes,problem after problem.but its coming along.

wont oil come out or is it high enough? never done it on the hawk but i know oil would poor out of it on my old vfr.

oil,as in clutch fluid or motor oil.

no motor oil will come out at all and the clutch fluid wont either if you leave one screw in the cylinder,it all will come out as one unit,than you could pull the rod or whatever else you need to do.

was referring to motor oil.

its above anyplace that would have a oil left over.

No oil will come out unless you start the engine....
I guess they changed things on the newer models..... well other than that I guess you really can put it in whichever way you like.... ;)

we were both right,the new one i have is not anything like you said,but when i pulled mine out of the bike,it was exactly as you described,my clutch rod was still good.changing the line and cylinder did wonders tho.thanks for the help.
