air/fuel mixture screw
 
is the screw accessible without taking the tank and airbox off? can someone post a picture of the screws? im running lean and i must be blind 'cause i dont see it (that being said, i havent had time to pull my tank and airbox and really look)

Yes you can but you need a carb tuning tool and the right bit. I bought a motion pro and I got the "D" shaped bit with it but ended up sloting them for a flat blade bit during the cleaning. It worked best.

i have carb tuning tools. i would presume i can just get a flat bit in the D; i can cant specifically see the screw though unless im blind/oblivious so i was hoping for a pic to help me do a headslapper 'duh! thats where it is' thing.

I dont have the ability to post pics yet but if you use a mirror and light then place the mirror close to the intake boot, between the cylinders, from the left side of bike, you should be able to see them.

Is the bike stock?

I'm in the same boat. Bought a 98 on New Years day and I'm still finding things I need to fix/repair/cleanup or generally make better!!

Would suggest removing them and cleaning well first especially the low speed circuits. It seems odd for them to suddenly need adjusting. Is this a new symptom? Usually if the af screw is lean you will note a hanging idle. Might be another circuit if u are noting surging or backfiring on decel etc. Once cleaned Then set the af screws properly. You can see exactly where they are and then slot them as even with the right tool the d shape is finicky to be sure its engaged

i just recently got an 01 honda superhawk 1,000. im having problems keeping it running. it misfires while running if you stab the throttle and just doesn’t like to run smooth. guy before me said he cleaned the carbs and i got a new air box for it. any suggestions?

New air box? Is stock? Why did it need a different air box? You are going to have to start from the beginning. Among other things, to confirm that everything that was done to the carbs was complete and right. Is the vac line to the petcock correct?

Top of the air box was missing so replaced the whole assembly. now that you say vac line to the petcock. where is that line running from and where does it run to on the petcock. they have the 2 fuel lines going to the petcock but that’s it

The third photo shows the proper attachment point for the vacuum line on the petcock. That line should come from a nipple on the rear cylinder just below the carb on the left side.
