900rr swing arm brace
Hey looking for pics of the 900rr swing arm brace on the vtr Anyone got any?

I got a lower braced (swinger) swingarm.. And I just got another 900rr swingarm that will be used to "FAB" another braced swingarm(This one will have the brace on the top) If you are still looking for pictures in a week or so to come... I should be able to post a few..

zmaniv, Sorry for thread jacking you here but 8541Hawk: If that is your swinger did the person put it in a jig when they welded it up for you and does it seem to be a common practice? Guys up here want an extra 100 just to put it in a jig and weld it up for me.

There was no jig used on mine. The brace was tack welded on, I then took it home and did the test fit. After that I took it back and he finished the welds. ;) |
8541hawk do you know the al composition is it 6061 or 7075?
I plan on removing my rear wheel from my spare bike to mock up the rear brake boss and brace. |

It might just be the pics but it does look like your brace is a bit too far forward. Also have you run into problems not dishing out the shock cut out area? On mine I needed to do it so the shock wouldn't hit when bottomed. ;) |

On mine I needed to do it so the shock wouldn't hit when bottomed. ;) yeah it appears that the front of the brace hangs out there, this picture #0397 was before the weld up, I used the installed wheel assy as my jig with everything torqed to spec, yes I did "dish in" the front of the brace to conform with the shock cutout on the swingarm in order to clear the shock on bottom out. |

Hopefully it will be less visible when everything is black. It is easier to mount that way but, IMHO, you lose a lot of structural integrity with that method. Unlike the box section, the single wall should be able to twist under load I'm not a structural engineer or anything but that is why I mounted mine the way I did. ;) |

If you look at the pics Revelation posted, you can see where that brace was cut so only the back wall of the box section is welded to the swingarm and then an angled plate was welded on the front to close the box section back up. This type of mounting will allow the brace to flex, which is not a good thing IMHO..... ;) Here are the pics from when it was just tacked together to test for interference. That's strange my brace looks like revelations. Looks like two squares joined by a plate and the cavity between the two faces the shock.

If you look at the first photo that Rev posted you can see what I'm talking about with the only welding the rear wall of the center section to the swingarm. It would be like if you took your square sections, that you have, and only welded the rear wall of them to the swingarm. Then cut them at an angle to clear the shock (and so they don't just stick out into open space) and then box up the now open sections. IMHO for the brace to function properly the whole center section, whether the two square legs or the rectangular layout, should be welded to the swingarm. |
Just wanted to thank the good people on this thread. I wanted to under brace my Kawasaki arm,(looks only) and I didn’t want round tube. Did not want to spend a load of money on a custom arm.
