VTR1000 with a difference

I can relate to the frustration of working on something for ages, and it just doesn't finish up how you wanted.
Sometimes you just have to trash it and start again. I have a 4 wheel project like that - tried repairing a wing, several different ways and attempts, still looked like a piece of amateur crap. Ripped it off and went and bought a new one.

He's welcome to come and clean up if he wants but if if anything was out of place I'd have more than loud words and empty threats for him.
Whenever the shed is tidy it normally means there is **** all of interest going on........................ or I hit the wall and couldn't think of anything to make. (happens about once every 6 months)

Had to re-hash the top of the rear guard because I lost the abillity to use a grinder the other night and made a right mess of it.
It looks similar to what it was unless you look at the pictures a few pages back, but it has been cut and shut that many times I may have been better to scrap it and start from scratch.

Well folks, she's running!
I could only try it for a few seconds because it was getting late and it has no baffles yet. Main point of this exercise was to test a few of the circuits were working as they should. I'll make a pair of Baffles and see if I can get a nice crisp note out of it with out making it too quiet.
First attempt was a bit loud as the front pipe hadn't been bolted up properly
My mate mark had a video on his phone which he will send me in a bit but for now heres a quick Video Frankee took of the second attempt after I bolted up the front downpipe.

I just wanna blow a couple of these pictures up to about 2x4, put them on my wall and just speculate as to what the hell is going on in this guys head. jesus, it's like the sistine chapel or something like you could ponder for freakin years and still not figure it all out.

Thanks folks, some really good motivational comments there. You've no idea how many times I have nearly cut this bike up in frustration when I've had a bad day in the shed. It's Virtual pats on the back like that, that keep me moving on it.
Righto, we've had a big leap forward this week. I got a call last week from a guy who was the owner of the most successful custom Frame shops in the country and one of my childhood heros.
He asked me to bring my Bike to a show and park it on his Stand next to his Indian which he'll be taking to Bonneville in 2012.
I told him I would only bring it if I was able to ride it upto the stall so I pulled out all the stops and had 3 all night sessions in the Shed and on Friday evening I rode it out into the street under its own steam before putting it in the Truck to take it to the show. The response I got from the public was overwhelming to say the least. I really can't believe it.
Anyway here's a few pictures.

Don't know yet. Things have taken a turn for the worst. I had a bit of a disaster and I'm going to have to make the Petrol Tank all over again.
Don't know if I've got another Tank in me, so it might not get done now.. On the possitive side, I did get it ridable and running well so I had a few blasts up the road on it which was one of the main goals.
I'm in negotiations with someone who may want to buy the Frame and Swingarm.
If it goes ahead I'll keep the Motor and Wheels to make a fighter with.

obviously its your money, do what you want with it. but one of the reasons i joined this forum was to keep up on your build. that thing is ******* insane. i hope you get a chance to finish it so we can all see your final vision.

I've started on a new Tank and Airbox so I'll see where it goes this time. A guy in Thailand is giving me some tin knocking tips that may help to make things go a bit easier. I was using all the wrong tools last time and he was amazed I'd got as far as I did.

Hi Guys, Thanks for asking but no updates. I got part way through making the new Tank and lost interest. It's now sat at the back of the workshop covered in crap. Here's where I got up to a few weeks ago and heres a few picture I found on Facebook that I never knew existed. They are from when I made the gear change and was giving one of my fans a quick welding lesson.

I have been busy with a couple of other projects until I can drag myself back onto the VTR again.
I made a Trike Frame for a guy down the road a few weeks ago and I'm make a Streetfighter Frame for a 900 Triumph at the moment.

building frames, tanks, swing arms, alignment, engine mounts, all way beyond my skill level. Hell I got my hands full lining up the wheels and exchanging a couple parts. haha You better take some time off and get some riding in and enjoy some of the fruits of your labor.

The Triumph got finished off (see pictures below)
I've not touched the VTR in a productive way since my last update. It was moving too slowly so I decided to build a couple of cheap less complicated bikes with some Suzuki Engines and bits and pieces we had laying around and for me and my friend.
