Streetfighter conversion mocked up
Finaly got my bike all mocked up. Now I have to take it back a part so I can powdercoat some parts and prep the bodywork for paint. Let me know what you guys think so far.

Looks like it's coming along well... only two things I'd say are if you can find a front mounted radiator solution, it would really help, as the rads just seem out of place when not covered IMO... and it looks like the seat is angled back a bit... but I'm sure nobody will notice that once your in it!!!
Would love to see how you routed the exhaust... I'm planning on doing something almost identical with the VFR swingarm I'm mounting up...
Regardless... Always loved the look of you bike with that SP2 swinger and the rims...

I think I'm going to powdercoat the frame and sub frame flat black and paint the bodywork pewter w/ gloss black number plates and orange trim around the black number plates.
So far I like the rads where they are and I also have a 400ex oilcooler up front, it's 4 rows verses the stock 2 rows.

sounds totally sweet!
idk street fighters dont get any cred in the US but i loved them first time i saw them - mine is in a street-fighter-ish config right now (cuz i cant afford fairings) but i like the way it looks more than the full fairing version

When I open the pics, my eyes immediately go the the tail and then to the rads next. Maybe paint them flat black? It will look fantastic once you get it powdercoated/painted. I like you color choice ideas.
Maybe some kind of edge cover for the rads? Just something small to give them a more finished look. Ohh yeah, in carbon fiber!
What did you do with battery?

I was pondering the idea of fabing up some rad shrouds. Just something around the top and down the back to blend them in some more.
The battery is under the seat almost in the stock location just turned parrall to the subframe, mounted in a custom aluminum undertail to dispurse some of the exhaust heat.

I think I agree with superbling... powdercoated black rads and it would look rather good... Also I'm not sure about the angle of the seat... is it comfy? It looks to be slanting backwards and that seems wrong to me?!

There is actually a short 1/2 page article in current Motorcyclist Magazine about a guy who converted his VTR to a street fighter with Evil Knievel style paint scheme and tail section and such.
I looked for a link, but so far i have not found any postable pics.

i just read that article! i dont really like what he did with it, it looks alright but i would not do that, the tail and tank look kinda crappy imo

I have been riding mine streetfightered out for a year now. The radiators definately have to go though. With out the fairings the bike runs really hot. There just isnt any air flow there. I used a radiator from a 954. $50 on ebay. I just got my frame back from powder coating it flat black and it looks sick. Once I get it all together again, i will post some pics.

Alright i remembered i had a picture on my computer. This is a wreck after my last rebuild so don't laugh too much at it. That is a front end from a 03 cbr 600rr. I call it the millenium falcon. It doesnt look like much but she has it where it counts. Anyways thats my ride a month ago. Next version will be way more bad**s

"With out the fairings the bike runs really hot. "
I wondered about tht too, seeing as how the fairings are what directs the air through the rads. Without them, you essentially have two short strips of aluminum (edges of rads) facing into the wind, hardly enough to keep everything cool I guess.

Nice bike, even nicer ideas. The black/orange theme will look great! Tail is great! With the exhaust and the GSXR.... very good. Only the front mask is a little too big for my like... And the rads are always the problem with VTR Fighters... I know that! Excited about how it will go on...

Mr Billit
Love the look of your bike, im in the middle of converting my VTR1000F3 with both the front and rear end off an RC51. Rear Is an SP2 i was wondering if you have anymore photos from your conversion. I am having the work done by a local shop out here in Colorado and I am really looking of something to show my mechanic he is telling me that i will need new foot pegs. Do i or will the stock one work?
Thank you for any help

That is a really nice looking bike. Are you going to powder coat the frame? It would killer with the frame matte black to match the rear swingarm. I think wth the frame matte black you could keep the tank and rear section yellow or partially yellow. Or maybe im living vicariously through your bike.

Mr. Billet, i think that is an awesome looking bike so far! Love the wheels, and i love the converted Z1000 headlight with the undertail exhaust. I, like everyone else i'm sure, plan on doing something similar. I'm definitely looking forward to what it's going to look like finished. Thanks for sharing and inspiring!
