There are a bunch of ebay sellers of the cheapo levers. They all seem identical, but some sellers claim their cheapos are better then the others. Anyone know if the "RideIt"-ones would be of any other quality than the $24 ones from random Hong Kong ebay seller? To me they all seem to be identical.

without having both sets in my hand, nope no clue. My set from Ride It are nice enough, I do not feel slighted for the price paid.

Fair warning....

I bought a pair of the $24 Chinese ones. They charged me an extra $10 to switch out a VTR brake lever for a CBR one. No big deal. Ended up being just over 50 bucks with shipping.

But it's been nearly a month and a half. No levers. I've had some contact with the seller but it's all in broken english. From what I can make out he claims that the USPS lost the package and he keeps making excuses as to why he cannot refund the money. I've had ebay and paypal disputes open for the last four days. So far, no refund.

Many other seem to have gotten their levers just fine from various Chinese sellers. So my experience isn't typical but I doubt it's isolated. If I were you I'd avoid the hassle, spend a few extra bucks in America, and go with the RideIt levers. I will buy a pair from them as soon as this other crap blows over.

BTW, Shine Trust Company is what they were calling themselves on ebay.

I have the RideIt levers, and they are great. They shipped to me in about a week. I have no clue about the other Chinese levers.

Anyone happens to have black or silver levers on a black SuperHawk and could share some pictures? I cant decide on the color, and hard to get a good view of the "silver" coating in relation to the other metallic parts on the hawk.

Did anyone ever find a bearing to work with these levers I just got a set a few days ago and want to put bearings in. I put some in my rearsets and that was a big big difference. Might have to get out the mic and get the book out and start looking for something to fit.

theres some toucher on another forum im on complaining about these levers. he crashed his bike and broke the brake lever, so he put these on and says his brake lever is sticking and is blaming them. well between our group and another forum im on people dont have any real issues with these levers, tried to explain to this guy he likely bent something or put them in wrong but hes set on blaming the levers. mine work fine and feel great. some people are just stupid i guess

I just installed my levers from ride it moto....and they work perfect.....I was amazed at the quality.

k1322 04-09-2011 02:02 AM

Bought mine from e-bay seller "the2wheels". There was some freeplay in the levers, but became better after tightened the bolts/nuts extra. Overall im satisfied.

Video of lever freeplay after installation.

Does anyone have the details on this? I'm not a machinist so I'm not sure what's involved. I'm assuming a drill press and obtaining and pressing in an appropriately sized bushing.
Some specifics would be greatly appreciated.

Stumpy 04-09-2011 04:46 AM

I will be checking on this soon My worn pins came out to 7.93mm 8mm is new. I need to see how much material I can use "safely make hole bigger" and what bearing size is available otherwise bushings will work no problem by making the hole 1 or 2mm bigger.

Drill press or Mil, reamers of the correct size to finish the hole, the ability to set up (hold) and locate the lever in the precise position needed to make the over sized hole at the proper angle,, while holding the lever perfectly rigid.
I have a spare lever, the mil, drill press, etc etc just not the time as of yet.. It's on the list.
Then there is the choice of bearing....
Do you make it press fit in the lever fixing the bearing cone and use the OEM pivot pin to clamp and rotate the cup?

Or do you machine the lever and perch to fit a flanged bearing that can handle both thrust and rotational loads?
or
Or do you machine the lever and perch to fit a thrust bearing top and bottom and roller bearing for the rotational loads?

Or???

I am not a trained mechanical engineer, so it's all just trial and error or reverse engineering for me.

UCHI did you ever get the problem fixed with the lever hitting the fairing? I just installed the Ride It levers and have the same problem. It's aggravating trying to move the bike in small spaces and having the brakes go on. I adjusted the angle of the lever all the way down but it still hits the fairing. The next step might be to mill the end of the lever down.

Not sure if anyone is following or looking at this much any more, but I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a set of the ride it levers from their website. At this time they are currently running a special where when you order a set of levers you get a set of CNC handle grips for free, also there was a 5% off coupon code on the web page 5PCDS which is an added bonus thru March 1st 2012.

Hotbrakes 02-29-2012 01:49 PM

CNC grips? Not rubber? How do you hold on? I'd rather wrap my hands around a lump of turd than shiny slick CNC.

Lol, very true.

The Rizomas at least have rubber sections???

I have a set of Pazzos, and a set of the cheap-o chinese levers. They're identical, except for the allen bolts, and a small washer under the nut that takes up some of the slack.

Everyone keeps talking about bearings. Don't need them, just use a small washer to take the sloppiness out of these.

wall0228 02-29-2012 04:25 PM

I was just posting what I found when I bought my set, I am not sure if I am going to try the grips out or just throw up on ebay and see if someone bites. I am looking forward to getting some levers that adjust more than stock though. I am glad to hear the cheaper ones still have decent quality.

The levers are about the only part I have not tore apart yet on the bike, but what do the bearings do in the lever? Where do you put them?? I don't get it??? any pictures to help clarify some of my confusion?

Don't worry about the bearing thing. Where the lever adjusts in the perch, there is a bronze bushing . The chinese levers seem to have an extra bit of slop in the lever, more up and down movement than the Pazzos. I have swapped the levers from the chinese, to the perches of the pazzos. I'd swear they are made in the same factory.
The only difference I found between the two is a small washer under teh bolt that attaches the lever portion to the perch. That seems to have taken any play out of the lever.

Not very keen on spendin 100$ on levers so i got a pair of DHM levers cheap on ebay. It was an auction so i got them for 6.5 + 2.5 shipping, or 9 paunds total(ebay.so.uk)
Really happy with then, look very well on the bike and got good adjustability and feel.
Here is a site where they are 15 GBP each...new.

I am all for the made in America movement, but my pocket book is all about what is economical and makes sense. I just couldn't get myself to spend what they are wanting for Pazzos, especially if the quality of the cheaper is still high. Maybe they are crap levers I don't know but I'll give it a shot with everyone raving about how good the cheapos are.
