Talking Mototeck Installed ( pics )

Finally got the undertail today ! Damn shipping takes a while from Canada . I am pretty happy with it other than having to F*ck it up with having to put the tag on it . Without the tag it looks awesome ! As far as the install goes its pretty straight forward . Instructions should read Step 1 remove tail section . Step 2,3 & 4 CUT , CUT and Cut some more ! You pretty much butcher the stock undertail . But when finished , it looks nice . Cleans it up a ton ! Please excuse the flash & the dirty bike ( I got caught in the rain yesterday)

Yep , Thats my previous ride . 8500 miles , all original . Its kinda been put into retirement since buying the Hawk . I almost feel bad taking off on the SH everytime I want to ride . It really needs to be tagged so I can ride it a little , Its not good to let em sit too long .Its probably going to get sold in the spring . Besides I am running out of room in the garage . LOL

I have one as well only not original....wish it was though....I love the V4 engine, but it sure makes the dad gum bike heavy!! You don't see very many on the road! I really love my SH too and when I first got on it after riding the VF for so many years I felt like I was getting on a bicycle!!

This is true. VFR's have continued the piggy route since '97. The 1k vintage bike has always attracted me but a member here says that it's like driving a furnace and in Texas that don't work. If I was in Michigan or upstate New York, I might think about a tank like this. Hell ya, you got one thing between you and the road - better be a damn good bike! This one was a good one in it's time and still is - just not in Texas.

I feel exactly the same way . After riding the Mighty Vf for so long the SH feels like a RC211v , Thats why It doesnt get ridden too much anymore . The VF is still one my favorite bikes I ever owned ! It catches more attention then the SH thats for sure . I wanted one ever since I saw your Shreveport native Freddie Spencer burn the rear tire off the race version ( FWS1000) in the 82 or 83 Daytona 200 . I couldnt afford one back then . So when I found one several years later I snatched it up ! Although it is Heavy ( Did I mention Its Heavy) I did manage to learn how to throw it around pretty good over the years . It just got to the point where I was affraid I was going dump it trying to keep up with my buddies on much newer and better handling bikes .

Nice tail! Oh, ummm, the bike, of course!

Any chance you might be willing to entertain a picture request with the seat OFF so some of us can see inside, please?

I'm toying with this heavily, just trying to find the "right one".

Thanks!

No problem ! I will try to take some this weekend . I actually got in there today installing the intergrated LED tail light . I cleaned up the cut areas trying to get a little more usable space . I think I am going to make some sort of trunk area using abs plastic & black automotive carpet . It would be nice to throw some stuff in there and it not roll around all over the place .

Here is some pics of the massacre that was performed on the stock undertail . The last two are after laying some auto carpet in there . The good thing is you do gain a little more storage space ! Mototeck Installed ( pics )-undertail-pics-031.jpg

Oh MY!!!!! Thank you very much for that. That 032 pic is wonderfully helpfull in me making this my next priority.

I like that Powerbronze one. Keeps things easy (i'm picky with my light alterations - which I don't want). Gonna check it out.

THANKS!

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I have a question. I just installed a mototeck undertail and I'm looking for solutions to replace my old storage compartment. Did you attach the auto carpet in there somehow?

Anyone have any other suggestions on fabbing up something so I don't lose the storage space? Thanks!

FYI Mototeck has gone belly up, so these are remaining stock, what you see is what you get, and no more is being manufactured ...
(I know, because they took my order & money 3 days before going into oblivion, never got that back)

You can find them at some online dealers or on eBay http://search.stores.ebay.com/superm...453488QQsofpZ0

Where did you get the license plate holder?

Edit: Nevermind, I just looked at the fine print of the auction, and the plate bracket is included along with a light.

Hey, if anyone wants one...I've got a yellow mototek tail I can sell. It's never been installed since I was sent the wrong color. I ended up getting another one instead of getting it painted. PM me if interested and make offer. They normally sell for $250 but I wouldn't ask for that much of course.

On the Mototeck there is a keyhole at the bottom, centered just behind the mount point for the plateholder...
