I put a window on my engine.
Well, I'm getting pretty antsy for spring, and despite the several other projects I'm in the middle of on my bike, I decided to take on another one.
Step one: cut giant hole in the middle of my clutch cover.
Done.
Step two. Powder coat it.
Done.
Had some problems with build up on the bottom there, but it's hard to see when it's on the bike so I left it.
Figured I outa powder coat the pressure plate too while I was at it.
And finally, I cut and drilled some lexan, and with plenty of high temp silicone I bolted it into place. The lexan looks a little dirty, because I kept smearing silicone on it on acccident, but hopefully when it dries I will be able to clean it all up.
I just have it on the bike now to make sure everything clears, and it seems everything clears fine throughout clutch movement. I think it turned out pretty well, what do you folks think?

Nah, I'm not the first (or the last) to do it. Lexan is the key. Plexiglass clouds over and gets all gross looking, but lexan stays nice and shiny. But I will let you know how mine holds up for prosperity. Thanks for the compliments everyone!

did you fill in the "spokes" on it? I could see where they might collect some road grime or water that could be issues down the road. Its a great idea, and well executed, the only problem is if you crash it into a curb, it will surely break.

thats a good point auto, i did not fill them, and they may collect, but I guess I will have to live with it. And yes, it isn't very strong, but it's recessed, so unless I hit something that jutted out just right, it will just damage the cover. hopefully I never have to find out!

I was being a tango whiskey alpha tango. I thought about it a little, and if you were able to weld in the ends and grind them before powder coat, it becomes a fairly marketable item (atleast in my opinion).

You'll have to post up a vid of it running. I had contemplated doing that before but figured the dirty oil would make for a less than exciting image. Now I'm exceptionally curious to see one running.

So I can see my clutch spinning, silly.
And thanks for all the compliments guys. I am waiting for my waterpump impeller to come in, as I accidentally damaged mine in the process! So by monday or so I will get it all back together and get some video of it running.
