bar risers

Hi Guys, first post here

I've got a 99 model storm which i resprayed with a red candy on the weekend

I would like to install Superbike bars and have seen some guys on here drilling holes in the stock yoke to install the risers. Can you do this with any type of riser from fleabay or is there a specific model you look to buy?

Hey Groper,

Bike looks nice! You do paint for a living or just on the side? I don't see a lower cowl or a front fender. Same color?

On the risers, some guys have actually made their own or modified some from one maker or another. See this thread: https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...352#post201352 and the pic on post #335 to get a good idea of how it's properly done.

Hey Groper, welcome aboard! That color is great, looks like the color of an aprilia falco or futura, is it? I experimented and tried the superbike bars and yes, I just drilled two holes in the stock upper triple and bolted the risers to it. You do need to make sure the riser is high enough so the bars will clear the tops of the forks though. I had used moose risers, in a 45mm, which was a tight fit, 55mm probably is better. And yes the bike is stupid fun to ride with the high bars

Groper, there is a comprensive thread on Riser installs in the Performance section. I went with a riser from a company in England. It raises the bar and sets it back as well. Requires no fairing modification. But, because of the value of the dollar and shipping costs, it was very expensive. I do like how it looks and the riding position. Check out the thread, lots of info there. http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo/5...cision-Customs

Thanks for the help guys, i'll look for the Moose risers in 55mm.

Captain - The paint job was 2 coats metallic silver basecoat and then 3 coats of candy apple red. The candy makes all angles stand out like crazy as the colour shifts according to the light.
