I new here too and also just bought a brand new '03. It was a leftover at the dealership. I'm planning on getting pics as soon as the ice thaws from outside my garage. Nice looking bike you got there too. Good taste in color.
Take care.

Hey, welcome ALL you new guys! Great looking bikes. The blue ones really look cool with the gold engine covers if (this is a big one) you keep the main header tubes polished. The Captain has some great pix of how they golden as they respond to the heat but you gotta keep 'em clean! It's a little work but so worth it with this color bike! Ride safe and wear your equipment! It's a tough time of the year to be patient but rewards come to those who wait. (lucky bastards get to go to Deal's) If you're in a little less active lifestyle this is a great time of the year to get in shape to ride - especially if you're going to a lot of distance riding on your machine. A couple hundred miles when you're new is good day's work! (was for me anyway) The Superhawk can be a physical workout in traffic and good roads

[QUOTE=superhawk22;36133]Gotta love track days just wish tires didn't cost soooo much.
I hope you can make it to the truck Sunday morning without draggin' your tongue! You sound really pumped up for this attempt! You got new treads for the assault? As long as the winds stay down you should have the best shot at the 1:30 of all year. Lower humidity than usual in Florida, low temps should make the tires stick like glue and better HP too! ( I should be frikkin' poet) Anyway remember, it's not between you and the bike, it's not between the bike and the tires, it's between your ears! Good Luck! And quit drooling! :-D :-D :-D
V-Raptor, I looked and cannot find the photo that the Captain posted to the thread that I referred to above. I have posted a PM to him and he will be on in a bit as he's in Florida and it's almost quitting time out there. Stand by, we'll get it for you!

Yeah I know ALL about the between the ears thing! Tires are race compound with 1 track day on them and the tire warmers are already in the truck. I was .4 seconds away from a :29 last time so it's doable just have to get a little deeper in the corners. If you couldn't tell I think track days are the most fun you can have with your clothes on!

Hey Doug, I think this is the pic you were looking for you wanted to show him. There's another with the new front end (almost done, WOOHOO!), where you can make out the Jet Hot Two Bros header I have now. And the Jet Hot does shine a bit more than the picture shows...looks kinda dull in the pic. I can take a better one over the weekend if anyone wants.

The build on the bike is great. Man, what a set of pipes! Those are so smoooooth. I got to the bottom of my throttle cable thing today btw. Thanks for your help on that one too. I can't wait to get it out and hammer down some 9-turns!
#22
Hmmm. I'm pretty sure that was it. If not maybe this one-I can't find any other pics that show the header. I DID have a pic of the header off the bike before a guy bought it but unfortunately it looks like I didn't keep it.

Thanks, it's looking pretty cool. Maybe I should have some more faith in my work but I can't wait to take it to Computrack (maybe I'll feel different when I get the bill) to make sure everythings "right" so I'll be confident riding it. Then I want to try the fit on some 954 bars I have coming and want to adjust the radiators a little and fit up the fairings. I also have to finish that old CB350 you can make out in the background...projects projects.....it's a disease but at least I'm in the right place as I'm sure many on here understand.

The thread was titled "Dirty Headers" and there were two pictures. One of some short pipes and then the one where the pipe wraps around the frame up to the can. I tried to copy them into this thread but it didn't work!
#27
Yeah ok, those are the midpipes for the Leos though. I thought you meant the header. Sorry. Here's the other side too. Hope those are the ones you meant
#28
Yes, Yes!!! That's it. If these new guys keep their pipes clean like this it will add a special accent to the blue color bikes. Really seriously pretty stuff! At least I think so! Wouldn't it be cool to have a set of the gold rims off one of the black ones with this look? Really classy I think!
#29
Yeah it would. I like the "golden chrome" look hot pipes get when they're kept clean. Kawasaki even did it on purpose on the Z1000-I think they called it something like golden straw colored or something like that.

You were playing with some photoshop images using the gold look. Even on a red bike I thought it looked good. The blue just has a certain "richness" to it when it's blended with the gold engine covers, golden tubes, gold rims & bar ends. The balance between the aluminum finishes, the painted surfaces and the gold would be impressive.
