I've been wanting to do something similar. Can you elaborate on how you did the line coming out of the engine? It looks like you have used the stock fitting and attached a custom line to it. I'd love to know how you did that!

E.Marquez Feb 22, 2010 04:31 AM

Jamie, take OEM line and cut off the hose using a cut off wheel or carbide bit, take that the remaining fitting to a shop that makes hydraulic hoses to fit. They will most likely tell you they cannot do it, do to the non standard fitting, but every time i have talked um in to it saying i understand it may not work and it's on me.. I've never had one leak. Done this for a bunch of OEM type hoses over the years.... I just bought a OEM SH oil cooler and lines from a local place,, as I'm going to look at adding an additional cooler in line.

zmaniv Feb 22, 2010 07:47 AM

Or you could build your own.

Ever had a look at the ends of a SH oil line that fit to the motor? :D Not a fitting your going to find in a Russell or Earls catalog.
You make custom ends or adapters, or re use the OEM part in a custom line.

Rama Feb 26, 2010 04:11 PM

JamieDaugherty, TX have explain correct how to mounth the oil lines...

And now, finally, I've found the correct shock for VTR... I've sell my Ohlins for RSV, and installed this...

Rama: Threads like this are making me want an excuse to have to rebuild my motor so I can explain why I tore my whole bike apart to powder coat the frame and do some cool upgrades.
Keep up the good work and thanks for the ideas for me to debate over for a while.

Man, I love Italians...

Great work Rama, to ride that bike on Mugello will be surreal and absolutely worth all the work and time.

hellride Dec 15, 2010 11:27 AM

Beautiful!!!! I´ll join the rest of the choir: wish I had the skills to build something like that. GREAT WORK!!

Just_Nick Dec 16, 2010 09:52 PM

I have to agree, it's a beautiful and I applaud your ingenuity, but in the end...isn't it a RC51 with a less powerful engine and a whole lot more money invested? Just curious, what made you decide to use a VTR versus a RVT?

Rama Dec 23, 2010 03:22 AM

Thanks to all for the compliments!
Just Nick, i've not invested "a lot of money".... ;) I'm near.... 3000€ in total (included the bike!)
I've decided to use a VTR because... i've find a VTR and not any RC51... ;)

Killemall Dec 26, 2010 09:47 AM

Davvero bella!

Did you fire it up? (hai gia' provato ad accenderla?)

Rama Dec 26, 2010 02:53 PM

Complimenti per il tuo italiano!!!:D

Yes, i've try to fire.... this is the video of her first "Roar"... (not the really first, because i've tryed first if the engine fired and only then make the video... so the engine was already warmed during the video) after a little time, the sound go off because the microphone of my camera (cell) goes to "protection mode"...
When the sound go off, you can see also the flame on the exhaust....:evillaugh:

Hahaha grazie ma è facile per me, vivo in California ma sono Italiano.

Grande!!! Beh se ti và possiamo scambiarci l'indirizzo Skype... mi piacerebbe scambiare 2 chiacchiere, e magari mi potresti dare una mano per ordinare qualche pezzo là da voi.... :p
E magari mi aiuti a migliorare il mio inglese maccheronico...:D

I cant wait for try my bike on the track, but i have to finish some little work and now i hav'nt time for working on my "little special"....
If you're interested in all the work i've make on my VTR, you can read better (in italian, but this is not a problem for you...:D) on the italian VTR community... http://www.vtritalia.it/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2045

My project for this winter, was a great work on the engine, but I'm buying the house and do not have much time (and money!) to invest in this project .... so I think the engine will stay (for now) little more than the original ....

Revelation Dec 31, 2010 01:45 AM

Rama, just found this topic and read it in one breath!
Nice work!

zmaniv Aug 24, 2011 03:06 PM

been a while any updates?

DrKyle22 Aug 24, 2011 06:45 PM

OMG, THANK YOU for bringing this back to the top. I am new to this board and I cannot believe the skill and obsessive attention to detail. This bike looks amazing. I would ride it naked! (The bike, not me)

His thread picks up where he left off here: http://www.vtritalia.it/Forum/viewto...2045&start=150

The site I linked to is in Italian but the pics are all working.

Rama Aug 24, 2011 07:36 PM

My bike was in "stand-by" for a long time, in december i've buy a new home, and only now i'm near to finish all the work in the house.... I wish in september to return at work at my bike, and finish...

Here some pics of my latest work on the bike... i'm near to finish, and i think that need only 4/5 days of work to complete it and try it on track for first time!

Rama Aug 24, 2011 07:42 PM

Ah, i've forgot to mention a new upgrade.... i've found a new complete exhaust system... Akrapovic full titanium!:D
I've find on E-bay and.... nobody makes offer, so... i've buy only for... 202€!!!!!!!:evillaugh:
So when i can run my bike on the dyno, i've to decide if use the complete exhaust of Team Rumi or the Akrapovic... ;)
