Here's my new baby. 1998 Superhawk. I'd been shopping around for a B12 but this one fell in my lap and now I'm in love.

That's a good looking SH looks like a great score man. Now beware of what I like to consider the OMD (Obsessive Modification Disorder) guys like me we can't seem to leave well enough alone lol.

Welcome! Nice looking bike!

From your 2nd pic it looks like you may have Manual Modded OEM CCTs (the gray thing sticking out of the engine above your right foot peg).. If so that's good! If not, look into modding them or buying APES.

to be honest I have no clue what you are talking about. I know this bike was owned previously by a guy who raced both cars and bikes and did a few simple performance upgrades (exhaust, jetting, etc.) but I'm no expert so I only know the basics.

Well these bikes have only two reliability issue failure points.

The Cam Chain Tensioners (CCTs) are the more deadly (if less common) of the two.

You can read about swapping them in our KB: https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...ad.php?t=11275
