There are a number of us relatively close to Kershaw, SC which is the location for Carolina Motorsports Park. here's a link to their site:

Below is a list of possible dates that we could get together and do a track day. I'm targeting doing a Saturday. The idea would be to travel Friday night (or very early Saturday like I do), and be at the track between 7 and 8 AM on Saturday.

If the dates below do not note a specific track day company, then that means it would be part of the Turn One Track Day group. This group is part of the Palmetto Motorsports Club, which is the local track club. They allow ONLY Intermediate or Advanced level riders to ride with them, and the overall group is limited to 25. I've ridden with them in the past (I'm a slow intermediate with NESBA and mid to upper Intermediate with STT for reference). they only had about 12 people at that particular track day and there was plenty of room on the track.

First goal is to measure interest in us getting together. Second would be to determine a date. If you are interested in doing this, send me a PM with the dates that would or would not work in your case. I'll drop it into a spreadsheet and see what dates will work best for the group.

If we do one of the companies, then we probably all want to get into Intermediate group so as to be able to ride together and also talk between sessions. That will hinder the advanced guys a little bit, but hey...it's just for a fun day, right? Perhaps if there's enough in each group, we could split up though.

Each company would have requirements for bike prep. I know with the local Turn One group, they expect more race-type prep, with safety wires, etc.

Ok....so anyone want to try to make this happen?

 

Keep Track tactics in mind also. They have June 9-10 and October 6-7. I'll be coaching for the new North East/Mid Atlantic region but unfortunately CMP isnt considered mid atlantic

Jay, does team pro motion own this track? I can't find any info on it on the new other than through the TPM site.

They do not own it but they are the only bike org to run it. In fact i believe they are the only track day org to rent it, bike or car. Its actually a auto research facility, companies or rich folk rent it themselves to test vehicles, but TPM struck a deal with them this year. Which is why there is a lack of info available.

 

Would love to be there, but won't be able to be there. Gotta go about 9000 miles away in a few weeks. Won't be back til sometime in August. CMP is only about 45mins away from my house and the NC event isnt too far away.

 

If this works out for the group, we may do others later in the year, so stay in touch!

Are any of the dates in the original post not good for you? Jaypo already has a date planned with STT on 7/14. I'm going to try to make it there sometime this spring though with the local club. I'm not firm on any dates yet though.

We could pick an additional date, but since jaypo has plans for the STT date, we could plan for that one.
