Mt Lemmon, 25 Apr
NOTE: Anyone reading the thread for the first time: The date should read 25 April, which is a Saturday, not Tuesday, 21 Apr.
Looks like it should be up to 65 up at the top, and I'm itching to get up there, so I'll be heading from Sierra Vista AZ up via Sonoita to Tucson and Mt Lemmon. Probably leave SV at around 0600 so I can get up and back before the wife gets up. I usually hit up one of the fuel stations along Kolb headed north through town if anybody is interested in meeting up there around 0730.
If you plan it, they will come! Any takers?

I'm on shift that day. I get to the Fire Station in Sonoita at 0700. Stop by if your in the area around that time.
A more scenic trek would be, Vail/Wentworth Road North, you can fuel up at the Quik-Mart, Then continue North thru Vail to Old Spanish Trail then Freeman Road to Tanque Verde Road To Houghton North then Catalina Highway. If you want to fuel up before going up the mountain stay on Tanque Verde to Catalina Hwy.
If you want to, you can PM me for more info.

Wow. I am a complete idiot. It makes sense that no one responded before last weekend because I put APRIL instead of MARCH. Damn. The ride was great, and I'm definitely heading back in April at some point. Anybody interested in 25 Apr (a Saturday, as opposed to a Tuesday)? Could one of the mods here change the thread title to reflect this change? I guess that's what I get for posting at the end of the day when my brain has run out of juice.

I put the word out on Beginnerbikers.org as well, and have one of the MSF Ridercoaches from Tucson on tap at this point. My wife will be coming, and is leaning heavily toward bringing the Monster instead of the V-star, but it still looks like we'll end up in two amorphous groups. Here are the details:
Leave Sierra Vista around 0800, staging here.
Second stop will be at the Circle K at the corner of Speedway and Houghton in Tucson, here. Estimated time of arrival is 0930, for all you Tucson folks.
Travel will be via this route.
Next stop will be the top of the mountain, via the only route available.
Brunch at the Mt Lemmon Cafe anyone?
With the start a little later than last weekend, I think that should give any of y'all thinking of coming down from northern AZ a chance to get down to the Circle K in Tucson by 0930.

Alright guys, who's in? Corona? Inde? Plan is still the same, 0800 meet up at Buffalo Soldier and Avenida Cochise in SV, appx 0930 link up at Speedway and Houghton in Tucson before heading for the mountain. If you're still interested, PM me and I'll shoot you my Cell # so you can call should link-up be delayed.

I've heard Devil's Highway may have it beat, but also has a higher likelihood of having gravel strewn across corners in some spots. Lemmon has been immaculate every time I've ridden it.

191 is a very nice road, but 60% of the corners have gravel, plus there is a ton of deer, elk, etc... I've ridden it twice and have never been dissapointed, it's 100 miles of some of the most beautiful AZ roadway & scenery... but it's just plain dangerous. Lemmon's road surface is the stuff dreams are made of, every corner is so smooth. It's a bit dangerous on the weekends though, with all of the traffic (cagers & squids). White Spar RD and Hwy 97 Come in at a close 2nd and third in my book... great roads, and they're really close to me!

Ok, so I just looked at what it'd take to get to the Tuscon meetup by 9:30 from my place.. and I'd have to be on the road by 6AM. (coming from Surprise)
So.. I will pass on this trip. Not that I don't want to do this ride sometime soon, but rather I don't want to wake up that early on a Saturday.

Edited to add: I do understand the sleeping in thing, but I'm kinda weird in that 0700 is sleeping in for me since I normally get up at 0500...
