lets make it the 9th then... so what do we wanna do for a route? the easiest to plan and longest stretches or fun road I believe are up in the Julian warner springs area by Palomar. although I would like to swing up and hit Ortega as well? any suggestions?

+1 on the Julian, Warner Springs area. Everything flows.

so lets say we can do 8am at the west side of the 15/76 junction.. then we can head up to the 79 take that north to the S2 south to banner grade. get gas mabey stop and relax at dudleys bakery... then we can head down do palomar mabey or we can go back down take the 76 to the 5north to ortega highway and ride that back to the 15?

well lets see what the rest of the riders are comfortable with riding. we could also do montezuma grade into borrego springs..... nice twisty road but it gets HOT! or just not do either and just do the rest of the route and ortega?

im cool with this route ^, then hitting ortega. its been at least 2 years since i have ridden it plus i can head home after elsinore while you guys head back south.

well last time we started at 830 me and supertrooper did that whole loop no stopping or Palomar and where back down the hill by 11. if we stop thats like 30 min their Palomar is awhile. but if we dont do Palomar we can be on the 15 again I would say like 12. takes about an hour to get to El Cajon. then if we want from the 15 to the 5 by the 76 is like 30 min then about 45 up to Ortega.
So heres my idea for the route meet at the 76/15 junction at the gas station. head up the 76 then take the 79 north to the S2 take that to the 78/banner grade. Head up the 78 to wynola road back on the 78 and down to a break at dudleys bakery. theirs a gas station their if we need to fill up. From their we get on the 79 headed north get back on the 76 and go west. If we want or decide Palomar is on the way. If not then we just travel back down the 76 to the 5 go north to ortega and take that east to the 15. This route we can do a good loop in the twisties if people need to leave we can drop them off at the 15 when we do Ortega we can drop the northern riders back off in elsinore....
any objections? or can I put this in stone?

Looks like bad timing for me....maybe the next ride. I drop my daughter off at the airport Saturday morning.
I won't be back home til at least 0830.
Looking at the list...I'd be the quiet bike...the only one running stock exhaust.
Thanks for the invite yesterday.
If yall are planning to go anywhere near the dez, better be out of there by 10am....Sunday, leaving Ocotillo Wells, it was already hitting 90.

Now my plans changed. I no longer have to be in El Cajon at 3pm. Now I have to be in L.A. by noon - gotta love running a business I'm still going to make it out to say what's up but won't be able too ride much.

Be aware that on weekends there is often, but not always, a "bear in the air" plus several on the ground on Ortega.
This doesn't mean it can't still be fun at the 55mph limit, but gassing it in the straights will put you over and they also write-up for hanging off and of course for passing over the double yellow.

i doubt any of us planed on needing full race leathers for this ride or knee draging, its not like we are riding race replicas. i wear race boots under my jeans just because foot and ankle injuries are nasty even at low speeds. the traffic on ortega is always to heavy to do anything too wild. im guessing we will go a pace that everyone is comfotable with esspecially on ortega because i dont think everyone has ridden it before let alone on the new surface. i know MisfitToy slowed down for me because i didnt know the road.

Any idea about what time you guys might hit Ortega at the 5 in San Juan?
If I know within about 1/2 hour or so I might be able to meet you for the ride over to Elsinore, then I would double back.
There's a large Chevron Station just off the off ramp to the right. I could gas up then wait for you guys at the front of the station. You might want to gas up at that point as well.

Its now looking like I'm tied up for at least the first half of the day on Saturday, so I'm not going to be able to meet up with you guys. Plus by mid day tomorrow its not going to be the best riding weather, hot.
It would be nice to hook up at some future date though. I'll watch the threads.

Same here guys. I'll pass on this one I have too much to do this weekend. I'm sure there will be more occasions. I'll post some cool itineraries that I have explored.
This is one of my favourite.
Latigo Canyon and Mulholland Hwy
