Right side could be the rear CCT. The timing chain hitting the case would cause aluminum shavings in oil (Would not be attracted to a magnet).

You should pull the valve cover and check the chain tension before firing it up again. If its loose replace the CCTs and you should be alright, since it sounds like you don't have a catastrophic failure yet. Good luck.

The carb slides make a noise at about the same RPM. If you've never had a SH before this is just one of the normal noises it makes. Say, similar to a Ducati in that it just sounds like something is not right, but it is. Just to be on the safe side, check the CCTs to make sure. Well worth the preventative cost than to suffer the cost of catastrophy.
If you have another SH owner near you, go listen to their bike. Piece of mind is knowing your bike's little quirks. If you don't have a manual, get one(http://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=140295). Use the "search" on the site, most of it has been covered in previous posts.

that carb noise, would it be heard under load or while being revved aswell? i seem to think i have a cct issue but i only hear it under load and not while free reving the bike. i can hold rpms in neutral to where my noisae comes on, i hear the the most at around 3000 but it starts a little sooner. its a chatter sound almost like a rattle of sorts. i thought something was rubbing for the first bit, thought it might have even been the drive chain slapping a little

When I first heard mine it was only when riding(under load). Comes on about 2600 rpm and goes away up around 5000 rpm or when the exhaust note becomes louder. I sync-ed the carbs, installed new stock CCTs and had everything checked out to spec. I even had several people listen to it and ride it. One tech told me I was crazy(i am?) and there was no noise, another told me I lost confidence in the bike. Well I said I would continue to ride it until it blew. Well 10 thousand miles later it never did. I did however have a CCT fail. But you will know in a New York Second when that happends. It will sound like a ball bearing is loose on top of the piston. LOUD "Rattle Rattle Rattle.........
