What's the deal with the seat cowls?

My bike didn't come with the seat cowl but it seems like most Superhawks I see pics of have the seat cowl. I think it looks really sharp and at first thought it was just an aftermarket part. But after seeing so many stock-ish looking bikes with the cowl I'm starting to think it was an OEM part. I looked on eBay thinking I'd see tons of them but I see like 2 and some listings without any pictures so I don't know what to think.

Where can I get one? Is it super expensive?

Due to them being OEM, there wasn't a huge aftermarket avialability like other bikes. They pop up on here for sale every so often. I would post a WTB in the classifieds. Just my .02

Or just buy a new one from ronayers.com or other online seller. ( or dealer if you don't mind full price)

When I had my 99 CBR F4 there wasn't an OEM cowl that I know of but everyone had aftermarket or converted the tail/seat to the newer CBR RR seat so they could use a 2 piece seat. So when I saw SH's with seat cowls I figured they were ALL aftermarket and was surprised it was an OEM piece.

Looks really sharp though and I think it makes the bike look a little meaner/sportier. I posted a WTB ad, good idea btw, didn't think of that.

I looked on ronayers.com but the descriptions are like "COWL, RR. SEAT *NH1*" and I'm not sure how to read the color or make sure it's the right thing since theres no pic. It is like $91.96

I just looked on bikebandit.com and they had it listed for $93.91 but didn't list the colors. I started thinking maybe they just come in primer and I'm supposed to have it painted?

Oh wow that'd be great if they had one in blue. Were those 2 the only 2 colors they had? I was looking on the site and can't figure out how you searched for those.

Look under your seat, on the rail. You should see a sticker with a color code. If not, I'm sure someone here knows the code. yep, new, about $100.

Motosport.com and rockymountainatv.com have OEM parts. They both can get the cowl. You can also call your local dealer but you'll have to pay full price either way.
