Tire supplier for my fellow Canadian VTR owners
not sure if some of you guys are buying your tires state side ... but I found a supplier here in Quebec.
Check this website out www.petes-superbike.com
best prices that I've seen this side of the border !!
all top brands and they ship within 2 days ...
Oh just a heads up you must create an account in order to see the prices
here is an example - Michelin Pilots 2CT front @ $98.95 & rear @ $131.95 plus tax and $20.00 to ship from Quebec to Burlington ... Fantastic Eh ?
good luck !!

yea man, guys from GTAMotorcyle swear by him...and its true...i ordered a rear BT016 and it cost me, taxes and shipping in less than what the best local shop could do.
and yea 2 days and the tire is there.

Ordered my Pilot Road 2's from Pete's - cheaper even than riding down to WA and hopping back accross the border with new rubber...
He only charges $30 shipping to Vancouver too (took 3 days). All in, its a phenomenal deal.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Avon Storms for wet handling and longevity too (they were my 2nd pick) although haven't yet tried them.
Only odd thing I noticed with the Road 2 was that it took longer than usual to scrub in - maybe 350 kms. Not sure if that is due to the compound, or just a pecularity of the particular set I got (more sealers / protecting resins etc.). Not a major issue, but something to watch ut for on your first run out on them.
EDIT - Just saw that you're from Montreal - maybe you need some studded tires instead?

You might not want to wait too long. I ordered 5 sets for myself and friends and the guy who installs my tires said that the tire manufacturers are going to make Pete's sell their tires for more or they won't sell them tires. I heard he makes $10 a tire but sells a shitload. I hope this is just wishful bellyaching but I'm ordering another set for each bike soon. Pete's also sells chain at half price. I think it was $70 for a 525 110 links. They have a race team and are at Shannonville and Mosport alot. They will bring your order there if you want to save the shipping. Pilot Road 2CT's are the best compromise I've found, good grip and last at least twice as long as the Power 2CT's. Cheers
Yea it has been discussed on the local Toronto Board
apparently local Toronto shops told the manufacturers that they will boycot them if they dont stop selling to Pete's Superbikes....when the word of this got out, the entire GTAM community went into an uproar and SWORE on heaven and earth that if this happened, out of spite, nobody will shop at these stores ever again.
it quicky quieted down and the end result is that in the beginning of this fiasco, he had to pull the prices off his webpage, which has transformed as i found out, that you have to login on his website to display prices...
ridiculous....healthy competition? naah, Toronto shops dont need that!
even with local shops selling their stock off at "crazy" prices, aka Michelin 2CT's front fo 98CAN and rear for 122CAN, Petes regular price is the same for front and 9 dollars more for rear....REGULAR price....not a closeout.
to be honest, the shop that is selling these tires locally for the good price...is the shop that screwed up my carbs and tried to charge me more man hours to fix their own problem.... i'd rather buy from Petes even if it means a few dollars more.

"I think the Competition Act may come into force if this transpires as it could be construed as conspiracy within the Act."
if Pete makes $10 a tire well thats his call but I'm sure he is shipping out hundred orders a day
he knows the "bend over and take it" pricing here in Canada ... brutal
for the last 5yrs I was buying my rubber state side , that was a pain in the *** logistics, appointments etc.

I go every year with a group from the Durham Region area. Last year we had 13 people go. We trailer down in ~13hrs and then ride for 5 days and then trailer home. Anyone who wants info, give me a PM and I'll let you know some of the other roads we ride and where we stay. There are a few locals on the site as well to give good advice on what top ride and what to avoid. Cheers
usually when im there, we do the same, drive down, ride for 5 days, come home, make a week trip out of it....
we ride the usual stuff, nc28 us129, the skyway etc.... go into knoxville for the evening night life or just chill around the camp site ( if at the gap resort)
usually we stay at fontana, just rent a chalet.....
would be good to hear your opinions and such
cheers

We stay in Alcoa. Cheap motel ($35 a room/night) with everything close. I get up and ride the gap twice before most of our group is up. No traffic or cops. Breakfast at the resort is good and then the day starts. The manager is from the GTA area, rides a Repsol.
About 6 of us have been going down the last 7 yrs and we used to ride down and back .. approx 4000 km in total round trip loved it providing I have my Advils and a really good rainsuit ! not going to lie it was tough on the body ... specially on a GSXR Note: just got the Twin Oct. 2008 ...
Until this yr we discovered that there are trailers that can haul our Scoots down ..
its great because your not on a schedule plus you have more time to enjoy the roads
down there ... and as you know the roads/scenery are just Stellar !!
a buddy of mine bought a place down there in Telico Plains , so we have accommodations .. when we head down in the spring I will throw up the dates
and we can meet down there ??

We've been throwing around the idea of buying a cottage somewhere down there as a group. Any thoughts on pitfalls not being a US citizen? Every year a few guys ride down and meet us. In the end, we get the same miles of riding but most of ours is fun, no highway pounding. They really enjoy the ride down so to each his own.

ya thats my buddy ben!! amazing guy, its the deals gap resort
im all for pitching in on a place down there, few of my riding buddies mentioned that as well......
simple basics are if you pitch in, you ALWAYS have a place to stay and your room, if others are there or not....
outside of that, its a good idea
i always thought that it would be good for members of a forum who are close or a tight knit forum to buy a place, and have a week away, to bring members together etc... we used to do this on a forum we had back in the day, and there is many days like that at the gap..... first one that comes to mind is the v-maxx from yamaha...

im sure i can get 2 or 3 other guys i ride with to come along aswell
u best be able to, the gap is alot of fun, not to mention to all the fellow local GTA area riders on this forum, im going to be hosting track days this year, open sessions, so perfect to have some fun with your toys
well usually my lapping days are 175 bucks, bring your bike how you ride it on street, no special prep, riding from 9-5, so ride as much as you wish
we ride the 3km road coarse at TMP.....
but not to sure on the price this season as they raised the rates... before when i did it, i didnt make a penny, i just passed on the option to ride to ppl i knew......
need to get enough ppl in to make it worth while this season, but if alot of ppl are committed to doing it, and such, ill make it happen

I guess with more riders the cost would be less expensive ?
I bunch of us go 4 to 6 times a year ... fun track, and its less than an hr.
drive to get there ..
I can scrounge up a few guys ..
well usually i like to keep the # down, to me its worth the extra $ to keep the track less crowded, and have a better time......
but it was usually 175 last year....

and this is me about to lap my buddy on his 636

always good times..... we never push ppl to hard, and honestly if you come away learning something at the end of the day, we consider it a day worth the $
