+1 on healing up quick.

With 30 years and 200,000 miles of street riding, I always ride off on new tires as if it's raining. Then as soon as possible, I do an over and back run on Ortega Highway, gradually increasing lean and throttle. When I get home they're pretty well broken in.

When I asked the dealer recently how many riders lose it in their parking lot after getting new tires, the service manager said, "It happens all the time".

For the record (and as my sig shows), I'm hardly a stranger to torque, 2 of my other bikes are a Hayabusa and a Blackbird, both of which make significantly more torque than a Superhawk.

That being said, I'm still convinced that my problem was caused by a combination of small things; possible residue on the tire, a little bit of gravel on the road and a cool morning.

I do have a brand new clutch case and gasket sitting right next to my recliner just waiting, and I'm going to pick up a set of frame sliders for this bike at least.

Just wanted to update this thread.
I'm not quite ready to ride again but the SH is almost there!

I took a chance and can now confirm that 2007/2008 R1 frame sliders will bolt right up onto the SH, you just need a slightly longer M10 x 1.25 bolt.

I'm also trying some funky bar mounted mirrors.

Have reflective blue wheel stripes ready to apply, if it would just stop raining for long enough for everything to dry out. I'm also curios about the mirrors, will let y'all know.

Dry out! i thought you guys were having a drought all summer long and would be thankful for any rain you could get? WTF

I have R1 mirrors and they are much better than oem, both in terms of ability to see and lightness. That said, they still require moving to see.

blue wheel stripes will set it off pretty nice.
